Hi ,
I have the 91fx with standard muffler and have a problem keeping the muffler secure , it keeps vibrating loose , is there a method of securing the two muffler halfs from coming loose , I have tightenned both the long bolt and nut as tight as I can but it still shakes loose .
I am getting 10800 rpm with a 14 x 6 , would a 15 x 6 be okay?
Thanks for any help
John

Tightening the long bolt as much as possible is a sure way to have problems. When the long bolt is tightened, you stretch it somewhat. As the muffler expands and contracts with the exhasut heat, the long bolt will eventually break and you'll lose half of the muffler.
Usually, it needs to be tightened when the engine is cold, and just enough to keep the tailcone from moving around.
You can add a piece of teflon tape to the tailcone to help it keep from turning.
