Well fellow Loungers... The car has arrived. 1997 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT.

I still have a LOT of cleaning to do. It isn't too bad, but the leather could use a good cleaning, and there's a rust stain on the paint under the rear door. Looks like it's coming from under the door, and I'll hit it with some sandpaper and primer when I upgrade the rear speakers.

The previous owner must've been a college professor, as he/she had staff stickers from two local universities. (Western Michigan University and Grand Valley State University) Those look like they'll be fun to remove. [:@]

My dog approves. He urinated on the rear tire and then jumped into the backseat. [sm=lol.gif]
Wow looks good. I would be happy with that. I want to get rid of this piece of crap eclipse and get a different car. Do you mind if I asked what you payed for it?

No no no, I still don't have a good strategy down!

I looked at our last game, did you just get lucky or something what the heck?
yep i got lucky, although it would have been solved with my next move anyway.

That could be a legit thread. Haven't you ever come home and cook the bacon just to realize that you grab some nasty maple bacon?

I don't mind at all. $4500, a bit more than I wanted to spend but I think it was worth it. Unlike the $3500 Impreza I looked at that smelled like a kennel. [:'(] I don't even know if I could have done that for $2500!

I love the look of the 2nd generation Legacy. Even in stripped down Brighton wagon trim it looks like a cool car.

Which Eclipse do you have? I looked for an old AWD Eclipse as a possibility, but couldn't find one that hadn't been gone over with the Fast and Furious treatment. [&:]

It is near impossible to find an unmolested AWD turbo eclipse. The 6 cyl ones are junk of the generation after, and the current gen have too much power to the FRONT wheels making it pointless.

Yeah I realized that pretty quick. All I saw were a few track worthy examples unsuitable for a daily driver, and a whole bunch of them with a lot of bolt on rice. [&o] Heck the lot I found my GT on had one, a convertible, riding on crap wheels with a high school sticker on the back and LED washer nozzles on the front. [&:] But he also had a beautiful battleship gray low mileage Mark VII, so that redeemed the entire lot from the shame of the Eclipse. [>:]

The 2000? My ex girlfriend's mom drove one of those. It was funny, her entire family was anti-import, and I showed up with a Subaru and it caused all kinds of ruckus. When her mom drove home in a then brand-new 2000 (maybe 2001) Eclipse, it really hit the fan.

oh very nice... this was an 89 i think, low mileage. i'm not sure if i like the VII or VIII better, i've gone back and forth over the years over which i prefer. i test drove about a dozen of both types but never was swayed into buying. the irony is that this gray one i really did like, and the price was definitely right, but the reason i got the Subaru was so i could get out of the dang driveway. [:@]

and yeah... bolt on rice is that stuff you can get at Wal-Mart. or things like crappy wings, especially ones off a different make and model of car. i can't tell you how many times i've spotted a Subaru spoiler on a Honda. it makes me go [&o]
