Yeah Calvino, stick around. We all talk about different things around here, I mean I'm the only one who blabs about Subarus all the time. [&:]

Speaking of which, I've had the car for exactly one week now. And I've already destroyed a tire. [&o] Stupid potholes. Not sure if I mentioned this before or not, but I'm still mad about it. The tire still holds air, but with a golf ball sized bulge in the sidewall now, it isn't exactly safe. [:@] Now comes one of the few downsides to AWD... all the tires need to match. I haven't checked the rear tread depth yet, but the tires are new enough that I might be able to get away with just two on the front.

That stinks, I usually just have to worry about my rear tires, have only switched those to snow tires so far.

If the center diff is open, front / rear diff are open, then you don't have to match exactly, no?!

It is only if you got LSD that you might burn up the LSD... (if the difference is big enough..)

Not really sure actually. I just always read/heard that you should never mix tires when running AWD. The front and rear diffs are both open on this car, as there was no side to side transfer on this generation, only fore and aft.

I just remember when the body shop put that $20 tire on my old Subaru to replace a $200 tire damaged in an accident, and the AWD system sensed the lack of traction at the front due to the cheap, hard tire and sent almost all power to the rear. [X(] This was in the winter and I couldn't figure out why I was fishtailing in an AWD car.

You can always stick on one of these gear reduction units...

Hey thanks! That looks like a good start.. 4:1 might be something to go with for now. Sadly, I didn't realize how fanatic Bruiser collectors are! Haha. The auctions I had hoped I'd win for ~$300 went for over $400-$700.. eeeek! A little too steep for me!

Easily, especially in the GT size. [:@] The cheapest rubber I could find was about $60 each. And there's no way I'd be going that low, that's just asking for trouble and/or awful handling. Most tires seem to be around the $100 mark, so at least $400 total.

At least it isn't the GTB version which I think had 17" or 18" wheels. [X(][X(][X(]

its kinda weird actually, a few of my friends have gone to college/university, and at the time, we all thought 3 years was a lifetime, it goes so fast though, and one will be a qualified aircraft engineer in a years time, although i'd love to work on aircraft, i hated school (to clarify, from aged 10-16) and although i'm far from stupid, i didnt find school interesting, so didnt concentrate/revise and hence failed miserably.

i did try to do a college course on plumbing (some years later), but even that bored me..

so i guess your alright if you like school/college and find something you like..
i hated school,

never revised for any exams and by some miracle came out with some decent GCSE results.

the last thing i wanted to do was go to college full time , so i decided the apprenticeship was the right choice for me.

the college side of it is boring as hell - all the work is about health and safety and crap which i will never use in the real world, the good thing is - loads of college girls haha

i love the hands-on working side though.

Haha, Mechanizedeath, LOVE your sub story with the dog.... "Used Subaru, $4,000, Man's best friend $500, Having your dog pee on your rear tire and jump in the back seat ready to take a ride, Priceless......." . The saga continues on what in the WORLD my neighbor gave as a car, some say it is a Thunder Tiger Phoenix, some say it isn't...... *sigh* at least they are getting new moto's

For me, going to collage is an expectation, not a choice. I've never been "smart" per say, but my parents insist.
They will pay for it, so I guess I'm lucky. Some kids don't have the option to seek higher education because they simply don't have the money but do have the brains.
Its sad, really.[sm=sad_smile.gif]
