Not asking you to buy it from me... just think you should try it with a touring car since you are only running 6-cells...

Hey guys, I know I have not been on much lately. Been working a lot and then spending the rest of my time in the basement with all my r/c stuff like a crazy scientist.

The brushless savage project is coming together. Mainly just testing and such at night. When you work with higher voltages and amp draws you find out what batteries really hold up. The IB cells failed horribly with 6 vented cells and the elites cells are holding strong with a better capacity. One of the IB cells even vented during a .5A charge.

The UBEC I bought from United Hobbies failed on the first run, I bought a Common Sense BEC capable of up to 40V at the LHS. I plan to install that tomorrow for more testing. I have replaced the hardened spur gear with a plastic one to keep it quiet. Metal to metal gears are quite noisy.

Now for performance[>:]

The Savage pulls a flip if you get to greedy on the throttle. Roll out throttle will give an easy tail stand for a good 100 feet at least. More throttle control keeps all fours on the ground only to pull the front up when shifting to second. So far is been very impressive. I will get some vids.

In the heli department I recently upgraded the servos in my T-Rex 450 to HS-65HB and got a Hacker motor to replace the Align 430L. I also got a set of Align carbon fiber night blades. They run of small lipo batteries in the blades. Those are definitely cool and I'll be using them for dome flying. There is a golf dome over by O'Hare airport and I have been flying there on the weekends 11pm-1am.

Nothing going on with the Titan, too cold to fly right now so I will probably pack it up for the winter.[&o]

When I was at the Grand Central train station (NYC) 2 days ago, they got a store / museum in there for the Grand Central history or something, and in there, they got 4 trains running in a pretty large display.. pretty neat...

Never into model train myself, but wouldn't mind getting a set when I got a large house, ha!! Just have something running around...
Ya know one thing I could never master was gluing ballast; it'd always ball up no matter how I thinned the glue, or if it did work it wouldn't look uniform and was quite fragile.

I've found HO has the best detail, N is the best for the space, Z is nice if you are rich and have a small house, O27 is for the collecting people (I have tons of 027 and 0 in the closets), O is nice for those who want something easy to run and not a whole lot of details, and finally G and bigger is for outdoor layouts unless you want a train going everywhere in your house.
you didn't spray rubbing alchol on the ballast BEFORE wetting it down, and put a tenny tiny bit of dishwaashing soap in the glue to keep it from puddling up, yeah, only got HO, may make a small shelf layout, a simple switching design[8D]
OK, can anyone idenfify (in order) the fire suits in the image,???

Tex - your BL Savage sounds exellent. Can't wait to see the vids! Also good to hear positive things about the Elite cells. From what little I've read, they seem pretty solid. (Gotta be better than the seemingly fragile IBs, anyway). I'm still considering an Elite 6-cell SXS pack for the TA05 (although the GP3300 stick is doing well).

LB - yeah, 7700 would be interesting in a TC, but the 5700 is all I need man. I need to find more open space to run! LOL

To all - here are some pics of the TA05-R (finally!), with decent quality. These are ones with the body on - next post will have the body off. Also, some Pede pics to come in the next post or two (I haven't taken any of that truck in a long time!)

Enjoy.

...and oh yeah - I can't wait to get the wing on that RX-8 body when it finally gets here!

You going with just one color then, or another that goes along with your main color?

White could look cool. Very understated, that color - but it can make a vehicle look pretty nice. I vote white.

Eman, your TA-05R looks great!! That paint job really turned out well.. (unlike typical LB quality, i.e., just spray can it once and ready to run, ha!!)

Looks awesome!

If you got your choice of picking a RC, what would be next for you?! (say you are granted a wish from Santa.. $$$ is no object..)
