No, it is popular. With technology now you can match and surpass the power of a nitro system with electric power.

He commented saying electric conversions were popular. You said it isn't (NO!). It is popular though thats a fact.

Funny how you mention not to turn it into a electric vs. nitro and then you seem to start that up when no one else is. [&:]

And I think 570 pages into a thread is alittle late to turn it into a electric vs. nitro thread.

What about a Chicken vs. Fish thread then?

I was doing some browsing and seen that converting Nitro to Electric is becoming more popular lately.

A friend of mine makes the 1/8 scale conversions. They use 3HP helicopter motors I believe. The guys that run them wont go back to Nitro because it doesnt have the "PUNCH" that the electric conversions have. http://www.rcproductdesigns.com/OneEigthScalekits.htm

The Bruiser is certainly a great looking machine.. things are done to look just like a real truck! The frame and all! Because of that, it does gave up a little bit to look scale, though.. like there's no diff (or the axle would look too fat?).. ha!

It certainly would look SWEET on a shelf.. it is like too nice to run.. ha!

On the other hand, a F-350 / HiLux, I'd beat that up pretty bad without worrying too much! ha!

Hope you get well soon enough to build the TB-02 up!

hopefully soon! theres a slim chance i'll go home this evening but i'm not counting on it. i'll probably be here for at least another day, perhaps even two. i guess it all depends on what happens when they take the oxygen off. [:@]

no word on the TB-02 yet. i imagine i'll get mine the same day as Tex!

as a relative newcomer i always chuckle when the electric vs. nitro controversy takes over a thread. of course i'm firmly on the electric side myself!

i wonder if and when entry level brushess systems will become common and cheap enough to replace the silvercan entirely? what do you guys think? sub $50 sensorless brushless systems in 3-5 years?

It is closer than we think!

Sidewinder 5700 setup is like $130!

A silvercan w/ an ESC is probably like $40?!

In a few years, I bet the cheap BL will be like $80... getting close.. ha!

you bet! my job might be awful but it does have insurance. considering the economy, especially around here, i can't complain too much. i'm sure i'll have to pay some out of pocket [:@] but when you can't breathe you're limited to two choices, the less attractive of which involves a box and a large hole in the ground. [&:] taking that into consideration bills don't sound so bad.

Maybe 5-10. Look how long it took for Tamiya to replace MSC with the TEU-101BK.

that was kind of my thinking there. cheap ESCs are like $30, silvercan is what, $10, although some consider it a freebie (comes w/ many kits, friends give them away, etc) and a TEU101BK runs about $37 at Tower or thereabouts. once i saw the sidewinder i realized a big tech shift was coming.

it's nice that all kinds of development has gone into battery technology over the past several years. looks like i came into the hobby at the right time.

good point about the MSC. seems like a lot of recently discontinued kits i've seen on the 'bay come with MSC, so i'm guessing they only shifted within the past year or two?

funny to imagine a Tamiya brushless system though!
