Flying in limited space.
There is a park just up the street from me that's lined with tree's, telephone wires, just beyond that are busy streets, I've always wanted to take my planes over there due to the convienence, yet am reluctant to do so. The last RC I brought over there was a cheap thrust vector jet, it got stuck up in one of the trees and was difficult to get down.
I'm looking at around 40-50 yards I gotta stay within and am looking for ideas along your personal favorite park flyer's that can easily accomodate that kind of a situation. Also, ideas as to preventative things you can do to prevent the plane from getting stuck in the tree's. 1st thing that comes to mind off hand is to tie a fishing line onto the plane, teathered to a stake in the ground, making sure it's length is just short of the tree's.

Wow, you can still get a .049 powered all plastic PT-19?
Flashback to the early 70s baby, oh yeah!
Now, where is my "Shrike" tether car, my taut-line funny car, and my all plastic Stuka?

saucerguy, The Air Hogs Aero Ace will work well in your area when flown under calm conditions. I would be afraid to fly R/C planes that are very much faster in your limited flying site situation.
Control-line airplanes definitely have some very big advantages for small space flying pleasures. There are a number of control-line airplane web sites that have been very useful as educational teaching aid resource material linked to the following web site.

I need to get back to my control-line projects but at the moment I am just having too much fun with R/C.

Back on topic, sorry.
What about those flat foam planes that are sorta' indoor/outdoor?
I've never owned one, but saw one being flown in a campground once.
I guess if you like so-called "3D" flying, that would fit in your space.

I'm flying a GWS pico stick f. It looks like a monowing Fokker. It came with a stick mount little geared motor. I have since put a 2410-08 brushless motor on it. The wingspan is about 30". I have a Beaver on the way and will know more about that next week. If you want to try the 2 channel aeroaces they are a blast, but you'll need to hack the plane and the tx to get the best performance.
The other choice is the parkzone micro cessna 210. 15" wingspan and flies well out of the box. The best price I've found for that plane is $105 from [link=http://myrcsupply.com]myrcsupply.com[/link]. The street would worry me more than the trees.

Thanks for all of your input gentlemen. I did fly a mini flyer there before, the wind batted it around severely so it didn't stay in one piece very long, and you know how those can only handle so much glue and tape before they become too heavy to fly any more. I'm taking everything you say under consideration.

I live near a park that has an open area about 25 yards with trees all around, plus kids run around there too.
The only plane I have been able to fly there and keep out of the trees is my Aero Ace.
it will actually do pretty well even with a 5 mph wind.

MYRCSUPPLY got nailed a few weeks ago on the Parkzone Trojan release. They were about $50.00 less than retail, but Horizon Hobby wouldn't ship them any to fill the pre-orders, or something to that effect. Poke around on the Trojan thread for more concise info. I'm surprised they still have any Horizon products listed. Just my$.02, and that's about all it's worth.
