Default Golberg Extreme 330!!!!

I want a new profile plane and the 330 looks great.

Does anyone have any opinions on this plane.

How much does it weigh?

How does it 3D.

Also how is it to put it together?

Thanks

Default Extreme 330

I have around 30 too 40 flights on mine and I really like this plane.I have read forums where guys have used all of the supplied hardware except they used 440 music wire on the rudder.I opted too use CF rods all the way around.

3D?? This plane hovers real easy.Knife edge is as good as it gets.

Weight 4.78 pds with a tt46pro and Macs 1 pc muffler

Construction is simple and straight forward.Modified mine slightly.I used pull pull on the elv, attached fuel tank with L pins and rubber bands and also sealed all the hinge lines.

Get it. You won't be sorry

Great flying plane!! I have one with a OS .46fx w/ a Tower muffler...it weighs just under 5 lbs....be sure to seal hinge gaps and as mentioned in above post either pull/pull or 4/40 to prevent flutter...

Sharkey, Id really love to know what you have set up differently than my friend Tom Millet's. He let a friend and I fly his the other day and we were both very unimpressed. One thing that we noticed right away was the awful KE characteristics. It pulled to the canopy something terrible. But I'd have to suspect that he's got something setup really wrong, I just cant imagine what though. We used his flaperon dial and had to crank in over 12% of reflex to fix the KE. Needless to say that wasent good for the remainder of the flight envelope. Or maybe Im just spoiled on my Sledge........but I hope his was just setup different.

That's interesting... mine has a strong pull to the belly in knife edge...

And mine was pretty much neutral. Easiest KE loops I've ever done. Maybe a CG issue.

You know what.........I dont remember which way it was pulling I just remember that you had to hold alot of elevator to keep it straight along with a fair amount of ailerons. But I do remember that it took a lot of reflex to trim out the pull which ever way it was.

Tail heavy tends to have KE pull to belly due to down elevator trim
Nose heavy tends to have KE pull to canopy due to up elevator trim

I've flown mine everywhere from the front CG limit back to as far as 1" aft of the aft limit, with the only noticable change being it handles a little smoother and rocks less in an elevator with a more foreward CG. In all cases the KE coupling is HORRIBLE - with full rudder deflection it is almost impossible to keep upright. It's still a real fun plane though. Almost hovers too easily.

matlok, start playing with the aileron adjustment. I liked mine very tail heavy with the ailerons set to follow the bottom contour of the wing. It had KE coupling, but not that bad. You could do KE to KE snaps with it and KE loops were no problem. There was a trim change between low and high speed flight with this setup, but how many times are you over quater throttle unless the nose is pointed up anyway?

Ed:

Is the trim change paritally due to insufficient engine down thrust?

My friend's Extreme 330 had some up-thrust by accident, and his pitches severely with throttle input, especially when it's tail heavy. When the CG is brought forward, the upthrust is not so bad. He said he fixes the upthrust, so I will see what it does w/ proper thrust line.

The landing gear bends but id rather have it take the abuse then the plane. This plane will Ke easily after flying it a while. It pulls hard to the gear but I was soo usewd to that. NICE rolling harriers. Im tesign out the CG Edge 540 and that should turn out awesome!!! Tons of aileron throw in the Edge

Are there any known sites that sell carbon fiber or a stronger/flexible landing gear for the Extreme 330. I have been hearing from everyone that owns a 330 about how bad and weak the landing gear tends to be. Unless you are an expert lander you will most likely have problems with the gear bending.

Other than that........

The new O.S. .46 AX has come out. I was planning on purchasing the FX Series but it is now discontinued. Does anyone think the new AX would be a good substitute. Not going from any of the advertisements on Towerhobbies.com, I just wanted to find out some things from my loyal official tryer-outers.
