Hobbico LiFe 6.6v with R617FS
Hello all-
Iam looking into replacing my 6v NIMH packs with LiFe batteries. I'm wondering if my receiver will have any issues with them. Futaba rates the R617FS receiver for 6 volts but my 6 volt packs average 6.8. I've seen on here some say that 5 cell NIMH packs get up to 7.2 but I've never actually seen that across any of mine (or Ihaven't noticed). The Hobbico 2100mah LiFe packs are 6.6 volt, 3.6-3.7 per cell so they would run around 7.2-7.4 volts. Would there be any issues using my receiver with one of those packs, non regulated? I would like the faster charging times and light weight but don't want to spend the additional $$ on a regulator.

no issues with the reciever handlin the voltage, its your servo's thats the main concern.
I do use 6.0V servos with 6.6V Life packs without issue.
Only some JR servo's protest but the Futaba servo's are just quiet and fast.
I use mostly Hyperion and Futaba servo's and no issues

I have a mixture of Hitec and Futaba servos. A couple cheap tower hobbies throttle servos in the mix but I wouldn't care if they got smoked, I could drop a 3003 / 3004 in with no worries.

S3003 or S3004 will work fine. My Escapade has the S3004 running off a Hyperion 6.6V LIFePO4 1700mA.hr pack. around 32 flights already, no hassles, no buzzing and no increasing slop.
the Rx in there is the R617FS
