Default Question regarding painting fiberglass hull

I am getting ready to paint my first GAS hull, in the past I have painted a few nitro powered hulls and have always used the K&B epoxy paint. I hate the stuff, to me it is a pain to work with. I have painted many of rc bodies using Createx water based paints and I love the way this stuff shoots and lays down, so I was wondering if I could use it on my hull and then shoot a clear coat over it? Has anyone tried this in the past? Do I need a primer first?
