Default Corrosion in the head

I removed the water jacket from the head of an older marine engine and saw little white aluminum oxide "nuggets" coating the inside. These nugs will add drag to the cooling water, and may make the cooling jacket less efficient, but is this corrosion an issue at all if it is not blocking the tubing nipples? Is it worth cleaning every now and then? If it is worth cleaning the oxide off, how is it done...scraping, chemicals, steel wool on a Q-tip?
Thanks,
Will

On our fishing boats that would get that, we'd use a mild vinigar/water solution & spray it all over. Stinks to beat the day, but it worked. Cheap also.

An old trick is to spray WD-40 into the water fittings to clean it out. Yes, it will hurt cooling effiency over time.
