Default A boat for my kid - to sit in!

When i was a kid, my grandfather built me a 4 foot fiberglass dingy. I loved that thing - used to row around in it for ever. But the one thing i wanted the most was a propelled boat to sit in and drive. We've all seen the little kids sit in jeeps that they drive around in at the toy store. I would like to build something similar for my kid to sit in. Of course the thing has to be built large enought to sit a 6-8 year old kid and of course safely. has anyone ever done this? got photos? what kind of running gear would this need and where can it be purchased. speed is not a factor, i would (again like it to be safe) but fun enough to keep going back to.

post your ideas pictures and advice please

Bad idea. At least with the power wheels your kid won't drown of he/she falls out.

Take any full size plans, and reduce the size to what you want.

Or you can work the other way with model plans..

As long as you are comfortable letting your kids out on the water, then
build away. A lot of people use electric trolling motors for large scale models, or
boats they ride in... See Mikes Garage...

Are you talking radio controlled? If not why don't you just get a small dinghy with an outboard.
