It is a Chris Craft Cobra.
How big is the kit?
Dumas makes one that is 27" long

I have to agree on it being a Cobra, but as for the make, who knows. It's obvoiusly larger than the Dumas kit considering it has a vintage gas engine. I see three real choises with that boat:
1) If the engine works, install a modern FM radio and have fun
2) Remove everything and install a modern engine and drive hardware along with the radio.
3) Leave it as it is and see if you can find someone familiar with these old boats and have it's value appraised. Might be best to sit it on a shelf and protect it since it's probably an antique

The real thing. It was for sale for a mere $95,000.00.

Thanks for looking it is aprox 5'6" long and 2' wide. I have the engine running but Istill have to tune the carb. I cant find any marks on the engine to id it my guess is either a techumseh or mccolluch engine. I did find a dime in the hull from 1941! My guess is that someone bought the plans and finished the boat to his taste in the 50s or 60s. I am just curious if someone has seen or has somthing similar to this. My plan is to use the original engine and update the electronics. I have herdof an issue with 2.4 g radio and spark plug engines???

We've got a forum here that might be able to help you with the radio system: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/forumid_196/tt.htm . I'm guessing late `50's to early `60's.

That boat has got some seriously cool mojo, but if it were mine, I would give a good cleaning and put her on the shelf for all to admire. Unless the boat is put together with screws and glue you might find that 40 yr old epoxy joints won't like being awakened by new vibrations. As is, it is a stellar example of the history of RC boating. I would love to build one like it !!!

Beautiful boat.........................tighten the screws, give the ole engine a tune up, put in modern electronics and let her rip!!

Heck, you could darn near put a five year old in it as a driver....................
