Gears Stripping?
Why do my gears keep stripping? I have a gray plastic Magnum 272 in a Bandit VXL. I thought the gray plastic ones were all steel?<br type="_moz" />

i believe its the idler gear. however i can't find out because some idiot glued the tranny together so its un-openable without ruining it. i thought it should be steel though?

why not just buy a new tranny case for $6 and cut the old one open, and find out.
Honestly I can fling my old gears in a gray case doesn't mean the gears are metal.

Soak it in Acetone until it will pull apart, and to the guy that said electric cars dont have steel gears, Ive got steel spur, pinion and diffs in my Slash 4X4, and all the electric Escales at my track run steel gearing.

I have an XL5 rustler with a gray transmission and it had a plastic idler, I had to open the trans up to put the metal idler in there
maybe your VXL is a converted one and not a real VXL (those were suppose to have metal idlers stock)
