Default Super Brain 959 Help

Hey, sorry if this is in the wrong section, I'm new here. I just got out my RC18T after about 2 or 3 years of not using it and I have some questions. The battery I'm using is a 1500mAh 6 cell Ni-MH pack, and like the title says, I'm using the Super Brain 959. Back when I first got the charger and car, my uncle had told me what numbers to charge the battery at, but since its been around 2 to 3 years...I have no idea what to put anymore. I've been searching around for about a week, but nothing seems to answer it for me. I tried charging it at 1 amp, and the peak at 40, but that gave me about 5 minutes of run time, which is way shorter than I remember. Could the battery be dead from sitting for all these years, or am I putting the wrong numbers in on my charger?

The delta peak is fine at 40... I wouldn't go much higher, you are supposed to set 3-5 mV per cell. The higher the mV, the longer the charger continues charging. I always left mine at 30 on my 959. Bring your amperage up a little.

1.5 if you can. I cant remember if you can go up in .5 increments, I haven't used my super brain in like 4 years.

Yeah I can set it to 1.5, thanks for the reply once again, hopefully this battery hasn't crapped out on me and I'll see some good run times again.

Well, I charged it at the numbers you suggested, and it finished at around 20 minutes, which seems kind of short from what I remember. The battery was pretty warm to the touch, once it cooled off I put it in my truck, and it just doesn't seem fully charged (My cousin has a battery that I used in mine the other day, and it just doesn't seem as powerful, same exact packs too) So I don't know what to think.

When done charged (during the trickle) pressing button to find the stop code on the 959 will display a stop code. If it is anything other than normal 00 then the charger stopped for a reason other than "normal peak"

A restart is necesary then. The best thing to do for the pack is a slow c/10 charge for 15 hrs. 2/3 A cells can be done at 1-2 amps max.

What exactly do you mean by 15 hours? Just restarting it over and over for 15 hours or something else?

No he means charging it as slow as you can the slower the better. Pick the lowest amp setting prob .5 or something and let it charge. My superbrain 960 loves to false peak to..

Quite a few chargers will false peak for many reasons but usually due to a small fluxuation in their electrical supply. I used to just keep hitting charge until it would kick off almoswt instantly, then i knew my nimh was charged. You said the pack sat for 2-3 years? How old was it and about how many runs were thru it when you last stopped using it?

I'm not sure about how many runs it had, my uncle randomly gave it to me right before I got bored and put it away, so it could have many runs, or be completely new.

The c/10 charge must be done with a regular old wall-charger that doesn't turn off. It can't be done with the 959.

I can't do that, when I first got my truck, my uncle changed all the plugs to deans, and gave me his superbrain, so I assume he threw away the old wall charger.

Maybe your pack is just bad... because a superbrain is fully capable of charging small packs correctly.
