Default EMaxx on single VXL with single battery

Anyone have any input on the idea? I've got a 1st generation EMaxx and I recently came into the acquisition of an extra VXL system that I don't currently have another home for, and I was thinking about dropping it in my EMaxx, which hardly has any miles on it at all.

How's the performance on a single motor with a single 7-cell battery?

you're probably going to have some major heat issues, that's a lot of weight for that combo to push around

Dont try it. Sounds fine at first until magic smoke comes out.[&o]
You can do a dual vxl, just not a single.

there is always some guy who'll show up claiming to run his emaxx/erevo on 3s VXL setup and that it's super fast.... but I think it's a case of...

it may be fast, for a minute, then it'll be dead

Would be alot of weight to push around on a single vxl and 7cell tbh []

I have seen a maxx on a single VXL motor but it was geared really low and still ran very hot. I wouldn't try it personally. If you can afford it the big CC setup is the way to go but be prepared to upgrade a fair amount of parts as Nothing on that truck will handle the abuse of the MM.

If you're on a budget Kershaw has a couple of brushless options or you can go with the 700HO setup which I personally feel is plenty in a truck like the early Maxx. I ran the 700HO's in my old Maxx and they where still more than enough to break every part of the drive train.

I tried the same thing and nearly fried my vxl system because as some of the other guys have mentioned it's too much weight. Your best bet is to sell your vxl system (you should get a good amount of money for it on here or e-bay) and get something made for monster trucks like an 80 amp system from kershaw designs or an hv maxx system from novak, just to name a couple.

How would a savage or other heavy truck perform on 2s lipo with a heavy duty 1/8 brushless system? I know the ESC/Motor shouldnt have a problems with it. Just wondered if it would be more strain on the battery and if it would still have decent torque, just less top speed?

your batteries will run very hot, less volts means there will be more amps running through the system for the same amount of power

i tried it in my 1st gen emaxx with the 2 speed tranny and a 3s lipo. no way a 7-cell is gonna do the job.
with a 3s lipo and the highest gearing i could safetly run, i got maybe 35-40mph. so a 7-cell wouldnt even be as good as the stock setup IMO.

as many have mentioned, a single vxl motor is at its limit pushing the emaxx. i only ran mine 2-3 times before putting a titan 775 brushed motor and running duel 2s lipos. a nice balance of power with no temp issues.

You will fry the vxl. Don't do it, or even try it.
