4-Stroke engine availability for cars
I believe that California is about to bring legislation in abolishing the use of two-stroke engines throughout and four-strokes will be the norm. Has anyone managed to fit a 4-stroke engine into a Savage or NTC3 and if so what engine and modifications are required to fit such an engine. Are there readily available 4-stroke engines for 1/10 and 1/8 scale cars and trucks and if so where can they be purchased from?

I don't know about R C engines but honda makes 4 stroke engines for there weed wackers and chainsaws. Maybe you could fit the smallest one in a 1/8 scale. I think they make 4 stroke for rc planes too now that I think about it.

if i remember what i read correctly the ban on 2 strokes will only pertain to over 50cc, i think rc cars will be unaffected.

R/c is not going to be included in that ban....and I can garauntee you that neither are outboard motors, Snowmobiles and Dirt Bikes... It's only going to pertain to street legal vehicles (you can't dual sport a two-stroke motorcycle), and probably landscape equipment sales (they're just not going to let you buy a NEW 2-stroke weed eater, blower, lawn mower etc.)

RE: 4-Stroke engine availability for cars
stihl is coming out with a cross between a two stroke and a four stroke. it has the mixed gas of a two stroke, the air fuel mixture is passed throught the crank case to provide lubrication but it enters the combustion chamber like a four stroke, with valves. it is i great idea in my opinion because you dont need to chang the oil, it can operate inverted, it is a little lighter than a four stroke but heavier than a two stoke because of the valve train, and it is a hell of a lot more effiecient than two strokes.
not to mention that it will start a lot easier than those */#%&^ #$/*ing two strokes do.[:@]

Sounds like it wouldn't be much different than an RC 4-stroke... But i think the whole idea behind phasing out 2-strokes (not RC) is for reducing polution.....and that requires a sepperate oiling system, and not a mixture. But that Stihl engine sure does sound interesting....probably sounds really cool too!
