Most nitro and many electric RC cars do not have reverse. It's a fact of life.
How do you solve the problem? Uh, well, you can start by designing a gearbox with a shifting mechanism... or maybe you can borrow one off of a monster truck or something... and then you'll need to add a 3rd servo to the chassis somehow. The short answer is: You don't solve the problem. The vast majority of the time you won't need reverse, and it would add a lot of weight and complexity to your car anyway.
With regards to your idling problem, make sure that your throttle trim is set correctly. Just try dialing down the trim to see if that solves the problem. If not, there are several other things that could be happening. You may need to adjust your throttle linkage, dial down your idle adjustment screw, or richen your low speed needle. Just start with one thing at a time and narrow down the problem.

Not sure what you mean by the rod or nut . you don`t want to touch the low speed needle until you have set the high speed needle . The low speed needle is right where the linkage is connected to the carb . There is a screw that you turn , clockwise to lean it and counterclockwise to ritchen it . What car do you have ? Like mentioned above not many nitro rc have reverse except some monster trucks , and some electric that have reverse in the speed control . You will get better and faster answers if you mention what your rc is that you have questions about .

First , did you buy a temp gun ? Second after you break-in the engine you lean the needle [clockwise] to get it to proper operating temp and then do your pinch test , a really rich setting will act like you are saying it is .

RE: No Reverse!(Sorry for so many questions)
most cars dont have reverse because:
A. its illegal to use reverse when racing
B. for electric motors it can damage them if u have it in reverse then just slam it into forward to wheelie. not good on the diff either!

Just because your car only has one main needle doesn`t mean you can`t do a pinch test . The one needle will adjust the fuel flow for both low speed and high speed . Get your car tuned to proper temp and pinch the fuel line and go from there .
