Default volcano EPX pro Upgrades?

hey ya'll newly back into the hobby and I picked up a Volcano EPX pro - curious if anyone can feed me some details.

what would be the best spare parts to stock
is the stock ESP good or should it be replaced?

I notice when I hit the reverse it takes a second - sometimes a few tries of letting go and re-applying for it to take action... I turned off teh LV shutoff already is there something else in the settings i'm missing...

Nice to see someone somewhat local to me on here.
I don't have this truck in question but can give you a few pointers.
If you are running a lipo battery, turn that low voltage cutout back on in the auto setting (3.3v).

The reverse issue you are talking about may be the reverse lockout setting on the speed controller (ESC). If braking is setup correctly, what this will do is allow for tire lock up before the ESC slams the truck into reverse (good under hard braking conditions on loose terrain). Try double tapping the throttle (in reverse). If I'm correct, this is the setting I prefer as it saves me tearing my drive train apart. If in a jam and need reverse quickly, I hit the throttle in reverse quickly, let go and do it again to get reverse.
If you want instant reverse, set your ESC to forward/brake/reverse. Keep in mind, if the tires lock up, it can throw the truck into reverse when you want brakes.

For the stock ESC (and motor), I don't know much about the specific system used, but did note Redcat lists the ESC as 2s ready (7.4v) which would indicate that is its max voltage, so it would be something to consider upgrading as your need for speed and power comes.

For spare parts.... Hopefully someone with experience with this truck can speak up. I would consider a couple pinion gears of different sizes and a thermal gun to measure the motor temp (~$10 I think for a motomaster at Canadian Tire).

Do you know who makes the ESC? I'm assuming Redcat doesn't make ESC units.

As for my location, I'm in the French River. Yourself?

If its anything like my Turnigy ESC (leopard I believe), keep in mind it resets all your settings so you have to set them all in program mode.
