Default Losi 22 2.0 Gear Diff Problems

HI All,

I just built a new Losi 22 2.0 model and am having problems with the gear diff.

I build it according to the instructions but I seemed to over-tighten or under-tighten the diff, causing it to completely fail. See attached pics.

When I would accelerate, it would make a horrible sounds. Instead of the slipper clutch slipping then allowing the spur to engage and accelerate the vehicle, it seems the sides of the diff were both slipping (Essentially making it the clutch). This caused excessive heat in the diff and the plastic diff ultimately just broke down and melted. The doff balls were just floating in the diff gear when I disassembled it. You could see that the gear had melted from overheating.

Was the dif to tight or too loose? Was the slipper clutch to tight?

I need to rebuild the diff now. How do I ensure that this doesnt happen again? How tight do I make the slipper clutch? How tight do I make the diff gear?

Ahh by the sounds it sounds like the diff was to loose or was not run in and rechecked.

As the diff wears in and over time it will get looser and need rechecking.

this video should help out
