Newbie Problem with Sumo replacement servo
Greetings!
My son and I are attempting to replace the steering servo unit on our redcat sumo truggy. We ordered redcat racing part #24621 which appears to be *almost* right, but a little too big for the spot the old one was in. When we try to make it fit, it appears to be crimping the surrounding wires pretty severely.
Does anyone have experience with this problem? Did we order the wrong part?

Well, if you ordered the part from the parts list, the thing should fit! Side-by-side, do the servos look the same? Measure the same? Do the part numbers match? That said, they could have made a change in supplier. But bottom line, if they spec'd it, it should fit. Try rerouting the wire. (what wires are being crimped?) Whew! 1/24th scale is small! You don't have a lot of room to work with, do ya!?
Do you have a hobby shop nearby? They may be able to offer F2F advice, help. They may have a better servo (one with metal gears) that would fit better. That IS an awfully small servo at 1x1x1/2. But then, it's a pretty small car. Servos that come in ready-to-run vehicles are usually not great anyway.
