Default Rustler 2WD rear diff gear show no damage...but dont work? Any help is appreciated!

Hello. My 2WD rustler suddenly stopped running. Making a zzzzzzzz noise but no going anywhere.

I figured spur/pinion...nope. Tore it all down to the diff, cleaned greased and spins fine. Go back together and still doesn't seem to work.

When I hold the assembled diff out of the housing in my hand.....spinning one shaft spins the other backwards. But I can spin both shafts freely any way by hand....such as when I go to assemble everything, there is no tension to tighten the slipper. When I hold the driveshafts, the diff just spins.

I saw no visible damage to any gears in the diff, or the 2 gears in the diff housing that spin the diff. If anyone has any idea of what I need to do, I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you

Edit: I should say that I did see the little roll pin in the groove on the gear inside the housing was intact and seated fine as well. (sorry for noob terms im learning)

Work you way inward. Start by taking the wheels/tires off and go from there. Maybe it's as simple as the hexes and pins that need replaced.
