is this necessary for better performance or turning

has anyone done this,,, i have done it to my super monster tires/wheels masher 2000 and it worked out great,, no bounce and good turn in

I've never heard of doing that, I don't really see how it could make much of a difference. The tire inserts are still gonna be the same stiffness so its not necessarily gonna make the tires compress/depress faster or easier, I wouldn't think so anyways. Unless your going from no airhole to a big 1/4" airhole [X(]

wow,, i cant believe you guys havent heard of that,, i have seen it in the magazines,, says it prevents the car from bouncing,, works well with my rears tires,, allowing the air to be pushed out with less resistance,, did the same with my rc18t also,,

just wanted to know if the front tires compress faster would that help with turning nd add more grip to the front tires,,,,, especially for those using proline blade tires

having a rim with no holes is definately a bad thing,, but increasing the size of the existing hole is better for performance,,, i just thought it to be best to do it in the rear and not the fronts... that is why i ask,,

Seems a little crazy... Seems like it would be just like running an underinflated or over inflated tire all the time, which is NOT good for proformace.

The foams cover the "underinflated" problem. The biggest issue I see is the stiffness of the foam insert. Even with large holes in the rim a stiff insert will not give anymore. It can't hurt but I am having a hard time seeing the benefit to the overall handling.

Vent for better handling
"The vent holes drilled into most monster truck rims are too small, so they don't allow the air to vent out fast enough when the vehicle lands from a jump or runs over obstacles. This can cause the tires to bounce excessively when going over bumps (instead of absorbing the impacts), which leads to erratic handling. Enlarging the holes slightly or drilling a few more similar size air-vent holes will help the air escape faster, and that will improve your truck's handling. A tapered reamer works great for enlarging the vent holes in the plastic rims."

Thats what it says......

this is what someone else told me,, and this is what i thought,,

quote="RacerNine.com"]Front and rear should have holes drilled larger. This reduces bouncing and improves contact on the track.

Be very careful when washing you do not get water in the foam, it ruins it.[/quote]

so tonight i plan on making some bigger holes..

i did it just to experiment and i got great traction. with that larger hole it allows more air to escape and ge better tractiom(just my theory dont know for sure)
