comm lathe

Default comm lathe

i was reading something online, and it said to cut the comm u have to get a comm lathe, and the one he bought was $100. Could he get one cheaper or would ur hobby store do it for u for free, cause i dont have that much money.

Hobby shops will do it for anywhere between 2-10$ Yes you need a comm lathe, a good one is the integy auto lathe, (150$) you need a powersupply along with that, so tack on 50$ more if you dont have one.

is it worth getting, or do u not have to cut the comm often, because then id just get my store to do it for me.

Is there any reason you couldn't use a real lathe to cut a comm? Curiousity more than anything else....

With a 19t you will need to cut the comm every 15-20 give or so runs. If you plan on going brushless quick then no a lathe isnt worth it, just get your LHS to do it, although if you plan on staying brushed then you need to invest in a lathe.
