Default brushless decision,, deadline is today

well final decision is today,, in order for me to save 25bux from towerhobbies

its either the
novak 8.5 system = 209.00
novak 6.5 system = 239.00
novak 5.5 system = 239.00

8.5= fast, longer runtimes than 12turn motor with the speed of a 12t,, motor is a 8.5t brushless motor,, issues with heat,, can run brushed motors aswell. i currently own 2 10t motors which can not be used with this esc.. 6-7 cells

6.5= faster, shorter runtime than 8.5 but longer than a regular 6t motor, the motor is a 6.5t brushless motor,, can run brushed motors with no limit on turns. new technology ,, unknown if there will be heat issues,, 6 cells only

5.5= fastest, shortest runtime but longer than 6.5,, the motor is a 5.5t brushless,, can run brushed motors with no limit on turns. new technology ,, unknown if there will be heat issues,, 6cells only

dont know which one to get,, someoen mentioned the 8.5 is fast enough and that th 6.5 and 5.5 would be a waste,, but im sure if throttle settings on esc and remote were tuned right then i can also enjoy longer runtimes and goodtimes on the track,,

i like going fast.. have a mamba 8000kv in my rc18t ran it with 10cells too fast for track but great fun on street, 6 cells is better for the track,,

i like going fast but i also like having control on the street,,

i wuill make a buy today just need to know what you more experienced brushless guys think.. thanks

Whats with that? only 6 cells on there new systems?

thats not right... it should be 6-7 cells not 4-6.

jus 4 that reason. i'd take the 5800

6 cells = the maximum ROAR will allow, and Novak is trying to be the system they legalize.

Munkey, why would you go with the 6.5 instead of the 5.5, I'm not doggin' you, I respect your opinion, and am just wondering. Is the speed difference neglibable, or will the 5.5 have noticably less runtime, or is the 5.5 just overkill?

Its a racers system, thus the no reverse and 6cell max.

The 5800 is more of a bashers pack.

If you plan on bashing get the 5800 if you plan on racing get the newer ones, or the 5800... If your running a buggy, st or tc I would stay with the 5800 for now, it packs a load of punch and is a pretty good all around brushless system.

For the simple fact that the 5.5 is going to be absolutely ballistic. Speed doesn't win races, control and handling does. The 5.5 would be killer for a drag race, but once you have to turn, you'll regret all that power. The 6.5 is going to be bad enough. I hope they come out with motors like a 9.5, 11.5, 18.5, etc.. The loss of the ability to tune your motor to the varying track conditions is why I no longer run brushless.

Okay, will runtime on the 5.5 be noticeably shorter than the 6.5, or will the difference be negligable?

are those even out yet? (too lazy to check) if they are well does anyone own one? if there not... we still have no proof that the 6.5 is actually equal to a 6.5 turn...

Not yet, unless they are filling back orders, should be soon, they keep pushing the release date back.

Default RE: brushless decision,, deadline is today

thios is a statement someone made on a sb sport 4wd buggy thread..

"I am selling off all my rc stuff including my SB. I have already sold my bk2, wed I will probably sell my xxx4g+ and am working on my mf truck to get it back in shape after the nightmare bab**** race we just had and sell it. The track was brutal on my equipment, not to mention my physical and metal health from all the breakage and dust that was going on that day. Breaking the front end off the xxx4 in the first heat, taking the back up car SB out and breaking that again, and rushing to get the XXX4 ready again just to break in the c main since I didn't finish a qualifier was not good. All this happened while braking my truck twice. Both were ballcup popoffs that ended up breaking the stearing arm. Not to mention Pearson qualifying in the c main and smoking me with that novak 5.5 brushless system. I can't belive I was in the c-main.

They needed to keep that track wet all day. If you broke in the frist heat, the track was way worse by the second and was hard to keep the speed up to qualify. I was really bummed it was that bad and dusty as all hell there. I guess I am spoiled with socal."

so my guess is that the system is already out..

also my system will be shared between both of my cars,, the xtm xcellerator ST and the mrc academy sb sport 4wd buggy

Why are you only asking about Novak? Why dont you get like a Feigao or Hacker or something?

cost is too much and there is no option to use a brushed motor

The sphere and neo one are pretty decent setups too.... they're available and only slightly more expensive... But I heard the esc really makes up for it...

anyways, your call

i thought about the sphere aswell 20bux more in price,, but i heard that the gtb might be even better.. im sticking with novak because it is proven,, dont care to be the first to get a new product when there hasnt been years of experience put into it,,,

I'd go Novak too if it were my choice. If I do get one next year, which is likely, it'll be the 6.5 for the simple fact that I can race any brush motor, and practice with a hot brushless without incurring maintenance costs.

well i dont have any nitros to race... but i do know the feeling,, this system will be used for both bashing on the street and dirt track and also racing/practicing on a true rc track..

i figured with the 5.5 i could always slow it down by using less cells , or by using the the esc programable functions..

i think im going for the 5.5 better to have somehting too fast with the ability to slow it down than have something that will only go so fast regardless what i do with it...

I've already told you my reasons for not getting the 5.5. It's your choice though, not mine.
