Default Pede + Neo = LOL!

Hey guys, I finally gave in and installed my new Neo.. I put it in the Pede and geared it 16/87, and this is the result..

The first scene in the video is the Pede going in reverse, trying to do a flip around turn.. Didn't work, lol
Second scene is just nailing the throttle.. Didn't work either, lol
The third scene is the Pede with the body off, cuz all that flipping and rolling ejected my body pins. Dang thing wouldn't stay on. This is as close to a speed run as I got recorded before I broke the battery pack. (bar just popped off from all the jumping I was doing with it earlier..

Anyone that says a Pede can't be fast is an idiot.

The video is uploading right now, should have it posted in a few minutes.. Go get some popcorn and a coke while you wait.

Nice!
How fast do you estimate it was going in the vid?
How many stars is the Neo? What batteries did you use? 6 cells?

Moose, most pople don't

Fly, I don't do speed estimation, but it's pretty dang fast. It's the original Neo, which I THINK is the 1 star. 6 cells, boring old GP3300's..

that is the 1 star on 6 cells, holy crap i cant even imagine a 3 or 4 on 7 cells. does hte 1 star provide more torque for off-road applications? i am jsut curioys since the 3 and 4 are recommended for touring use.

dude, that pede is sick, all i need to do know is get a neo 2 star, lrp sphere, 7 or 6 cell ib 3800, new charger, masher 2000s, and an alum idler for my evader. wow i didnt realize i wanted so much crap for it. lol

They were ballooning, but the video sucks and you can't see it. The only mods on the thing are the RPM bearing carriers, bearings and an aluminum idler gear. Otherwise, it's bone stock. I had planned to lower it and make it into a racer, but my LHS owner is an idiot and refuses have a points series this year (for the second year running).. So, I just drive it in the yard and street. I MIGHT turn it into an oval truck and run it against nitro MTs at a big oval near here some this summer. I think this thing would be insane on some low-profile silicone tires and with an air dam. This Pede holds the honor of being the first, and only, electric vehicle to clear the double at the offroad track I used to race at. (same idiot LHS owner owns it too, so I don't race there anymore either)

Sorry, it's a Neo 3 star. They came out with the 3 star first. Why it wasn't the 1 star, I'll never know. Stupid naming scheme.

Same as they were before my last Neo blew up. I'd say 10+ easily. It's so cold here right now (I'm sure you saw the snow in the video), it's TOO long for my tastes.. When I get the next pack charged, I'll try to get just the ballooning for you. It's already thrown the glue on one of them though hehehe

I feel like I'm a little overgeared right now. Not from a motor heat standpoint, but from a controllability one. It's simply to fast to be a "Pede". Pedes aren't meant to go so fast. Theyre for slower, more deliberate driving. I took it out a few minutes ago to crawl around on some tree roots in my yard and it was way too wheel-spinny. I'm thinking I'll drop it to a 14 or 13 for my next pack. Won't balloon the tires as well though. Oh and sorry, it's not an 87t spur.. It's an 84t. I forgot I killed my 87t at the last race.

Nope, haven't been back out. My daughter has decided she needs me more than I need to run out another pack. 7 month olds are like that

[X(] THAT IS ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!!!! I have never seen a pede (or any monster truck really) go quite that fast. Isn't that difficult to control with all of that power (rwd)? Awwwwww....!!!! I want a neo/sphere sooooooooo bad now!!

The 3 star is the original, 9t motor. There is a 4 star out now that's a 7t (I think).. That thing would be insane. I want a 19t version of this motor. Then I'll be cruising..

RS4, yes, very difficult. In fact, if you'll listen to the video, you can hear here I had to get out of the throttle when I'm coming back towards the camera. It was heading towards a big puddle with no body on.. Pucker moment right there It is a 2wd, rwd truck. Not the most stable truck in the first place, then when you put a Neo in it, it's ugly.

I just flipped it over and put my foot on it. I was afriad it would sling the right rear (on the left in the video) completely off this time, but it held ok.. Notice the broken front body post? Towerhobbies, here I come.. =\

6 cells is plenty. 7 would be totally uncontrollable. Not that 6 ARE controllable, but 7 would be terrible... I've ran 7c in my Losi before and it works quite well.

I think that the 1 star is something like a 13t. I forget where I read that, or if that is 100% right, but it would for sure be more controlable than the 3 star. I personally would go for the 4 star (having a 4wd rally, controlablility isn't an issue) I would just want raw horsepower! I saw on some site that a person made a 4wd pede... a super powered 4wd pede would be insane!
