Default Duratrax Evader plastic question.

Got a friend with a Duratrax Evader ST he's had for about 4-5 years now and it seems like if he looks at it funny it breaks. He's had to replace three chassis already along with sundry other parts and it's only got about 10-15 runs on it in that time period. Spends more time broken than running.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that DTX had changed the formula/chemistry/whatever of their plastic to make it more durable. Any ideas if I actually read that somewhere or if I'm remembering something that never happened?

If not, does anybody know of parts for the Evader that aren't made by DTX and are of better quality? This thing can't even handle simple stuff that my T3 would shrug off without batting an eye and he's getting pretty frustrated.

Thanks.

All i know is that duratrax plastic is low density, light, weak stuff. It's stronger than what most people say, but it's alot weaker than their graphite.

Your friend should just get a graphite chassis and be done with it. Then it's covered for one year free replacement.

If you're going to be doing any kind of real bashing, I'd just stay away from the Evader all together. The older ones had softer plastics. The newer ones (the pros anyway) are made of graphite. Although the graphite is a lot harder than the plastic, it is also very brittle. The front shock tower and shock parts snap like twigs.

I have a T4 and my son has the Evader BX Pro. We are at the LHS every weekend buying parts for the Evader. We are slowly adpating parts for the T4 to the Evader (where possible) and the adapted parts haven't broken.

I don't know much about the Duratrax line, but if you can, go with composite parts. They are a good compromise between rigidity and flexibility.
