Default Cells: zapped or not zapped?

Now don't flame me when I ask this. I searched and didn't find anything to answer my question. [8D]

I understand that "zapping" cells will boost their voltage. Will a battery pack with "zapped" cells have a shorter life span than one that is not zapped? I've heard this before from unreliable sources and I would like to get a clear answer!
I've been drooling over an IB3800 pack from BoomBoom Batteries for a couple months now.
Thanks for the help!

I believe that zapped batteries (I think I read this in a tower hobbies catalogue) have a shorter lifespan than normal batteries, and its up to you to decide whether to sacrifice lifespan for performance.

Yeah, that's basicially what I'd heard. Thanks for the reply. Anyone else have $0.02 to give on this?

Depends upon the zapping procedure, the total amount of energy transferred and how that energy was delivered. If done correctly with the proper equipment zapping will not reduce the operating life of a cell. Beware of sellers pushing cells that are untested.

From my testing it does not reduce the life of cells - I haven't really heard otherwise unless it's done incorrectly.

Yeah that makes sense

Exactly how much and what kind of voltage and for how long is it applied when zapping cells?

Sorry, but I promised a battery matcher I know that I would not give up the details.

You could ask Boom Boom, he knows everything about batteries. Didn't he design the IB cells? He should know.

Not sure why you would say something like that to start a fight... Anyway, back on topic, I can't divulge how much power is put through the cell (as it is proprietary), but the zap lasts about 1-3 seconds.

Im not starting a fight, Im merely saying you didn't design the cells.
