If the battery is getting hot (not warm) it's because some thing is drawing too much power from it. Make sure your motor turns easy and there is no binding in the axles, bearings, and trany and wheels.

It could be the connector, mine would get soo hot, so i made it so the wires in the connectors make more contact.
If you want you could get deans and it shouldnt do it if thats the problem.

that is typical of the generic cardboard cells. If truck is stock they will be fine for awhile. If hopped uip then they will get hotter. Or are you running in grass?
what is the runtime and the capacity of battery?

well i was going to get new cells anyways, i just upgraded to a speed gems 17t motor and a tekin 411p esc about 3 months ago
they're 1500 nicd cells and one pack gets hot, but the other doesn't
im lookin at the ib4200 cells on tower for like $40, i'd prolly get 2 and then a duratrax pulse charger
edit-- and the run time is about 7 minutes, then the motor loses power slowly and to turn i have to let off the throttle
