ok ok im sure u've been waiting for a sneak an i got a few pics.
and i got some nice details to explain...

Everyday life you stare the race/lace scene which evolves, 3rd model " 2005 EDITION " of the R40 appears!
With 2005 EDITION " before creating the whirlwind by high aggressive power, model " 2004 EDITION " the further モディファイ was added to the base. It modifies mechanic layout with the main chassis of the new design & the adoption of the upper deck. Maneuverability improved rapidly centralization of thorough mass with center of gravity conversion low.
In addition, new you design also the new model fuel tank, you succeed in lowering the center of gravity at the time of full tank. The dead angle is not aggressive power was learned, " 2005 EDITION " lead you to victory.

* New model upper deck
It is low from in the race/lace scene which is accelerated highly improvement of center of gravity and maneuverability in purpose mechanic layout substantial modification. It designed steering wheel servo on the chassis center, furthermore it became possible without designating the contact with the road surface as the air to load steering wheel servo onto low position. In addition, above it succeeds in center of gravity conversion until now low by the fact that weight ones are gathered to the utmost on the center, also focus characteristic of roll moment improves because of this and substantially actualizes the maneuverability which excels.

* New model fuel tank
Attendant upon the modification of mechanic layout the fuel tank the new design. Until now, it modified the fuel supply efficiency which has established reputation in the kind of form which that way lowers the center of gravity at the time of full tank. In addition, when refueling the protect performance which protects servo and the receiver from the fuel which overflows was added.

* New model main chassis
" 2005 EDITION " by until now achieving low the center of gravity conversion above with modification of mechanic layout, like the front model dropped the receiver battery into the main chassis and the necessity to be packed was gone. As a result, being slimmer, the chassis design which seriously considered roll quality became possible, chassis rigidity and the chassis roll succeeded in balance being able to point in the higher-order origin.

also includes most of if not all the hop-ups made by hpi for the r40 all except the ti screws and maybe one or two more
so... it includes everything the 2004 kit offers and then some.

I like how they repositioned the Servo and stuck the RX in that area. No more steering 2 be disabled from a hit.

Funny you guys talk about the old servo position. I had one get knocked out on my last race. Someone nailed me in the side and took out my steering. I dont think putting the reciever in its place sounds to smart. LOL

Will we be able to upgrade our existing R40s to this new chassis and top deck?

Well atleast the RX is moved further in the chassis sorta. It won't be that hard for anyone to really nail you there anymore.

I'd stick with engines you have access to for parts. STS's are great, but with the OS .12TZ at your disposal for only $220, the Novarossi's NS,NSR, N12, and RR versions for $250-$270 no need to go buy something cheap. Cheaper isn't always better .

[X(]cheaper engine? Well that was out of the blue...lol. STS engines are pretty good ones its just they are made in asia which makes them so cheap...however quality is pretty good most likely better than hpi's engines not sure.

i think there will be a conversion kit as they had one for the 2004 version for exsisting r40 owners in japan...It would be nice instead of buying a whole new car which this one since it comes with a faire amount of upgrades will cost us in the $300+ area. As i seen them already have price lists in other countries.

$300? Sounds good. That's within a good price range.

i am in the process of running in my hpi .12r xs in my r40! this is all brand new! got the 1st tank through on idle, but it runs fine until the break kicks in when i press break and then it stopps even though it runs fine when it is in nutural./... also is it normal for the car not to be able to be pushed backwards?? it is the engine that stopps it from being pushed backwards not the spur gears! cheers

The car should be able to be pushed forward or backward whether the engine is at idle or not running at all. Something may be wrong with the gear mesh or the oneway bearing for the 2speed is backward.

arg...idling isnt the best way to increase engine life for your car...It needs to get up to normal operating temperature inorder for the sleeve to be resized properly research on mehtods better than idling which has proven to be one of the worst ways... Tighten down the idle air screw a little bit so when full brake is applied you have the same amout of space in the carb as you do in idle which is around .5mm of space to even 1mm. Try to get the slowest but most reliable idle tht doesnt cut out in braking. Also not going backwards? definatly check clutch for bothe two speed and engine and the bearings most likely the one way has something to do with it.

Hmm, i have a big conflict deciding on what to get next...new pipe or a good steering servo or even ceramic engine bearings.I was leaning more to a new pipe...just giving something to talk about. Oh wait maybe the new hara edtion too...really hope there is just a conversion kit cause I dont really need a backup car right now...

i didnt even know there was a one way bearing!! the gap in the carb stays the 1mm apart when break is applied thats the problem. ill give the 2 speed shaft a look over now! cheers! the reason for doing the static break in was that i was told to do it by robin lucas as i emailed him for advice! my temp was only at 106 degrees c! caus it was running too rich!

er...well anyway real engine expert tuners and modifyers know what they are talking about...I've seen the results and they are huge compared to ye olde way of breaking it in. At least it isnt a 400 dollar engine and you will end up buying a p/s set b4 a gallon that cost 200 ouch.

also whos robin lucas? hehehe.....[]

I had upto 4shims in the clutchbell and it only had maybe 1.5mm of movement or so. Any less and it would move a lot.
