Think so m8 but dont quote me on that im sure one of the guys on here will say so im thinking of 23T AV PINION GEAR/58T SPUR GEAR with my 21D motor and see if it doesnt over heat too much im running standard 19/61 at the mo with no motor heat buildup at all and i want a bit more top end

you want a smaller pinion. lower the motor turn #, the smaller the pinion should be. a bigger pinion will give you more top end, but your 13x2 motor will fry if you try to over gear it some more

Are you sure?
And the TT-01 motor mount doesn't support anything smaller than a 19T.

What noise?

Oh, and as for the gearing issue, i keep hearing different opinions and i have no clue what to do.[:@]
Pinions are only $6 though, so i'll buy two to try them out.
Plus i'll put an S2000 body on with the roof cut off so i'll get all the cooling i need for the motor.

Yes, bigger pinion and smaller spur gives you higher speed, but i don't know if i should get a smaller or bigger pinion for my heat issue.

yes, so you want a smaller one since the faster low turn motors have less torque, so you gear it down and make the gear ratios bigger. The heat is being caused by the motor being stressed and thats caused by being overgeared.

Seems 19 pinion gear is smallest for the TT-01 [X(]
so if your running 19/61 (standard gearing) and its still over heating could be the TT-01 cant handle a 12t?
think a brushless would kill of a TT-01 lol
or do they make a smaller pinion maybe robinson does??

Ive been looking at the carson tt-01 upgrade pack
This pack can be fitted to ANY TT01 car (kit or XB Pro) and will give improved suspension response, 50% speed increase, smoother rolling and less resistance in the drive train. By altering the gear ratio from approx 8.3:1 to approx 5.4:1 the car will be marginally slower to accelerate but will hold a much higher top speed. The addition of the bearings ensures that no additional stress is made to the car by changing the gear ratio, and unlike a motor upgrade no changes are required to the ESC and there is very little reduction in run time per battery!

The pack contains the following:

1 x Tamiya 53619 Oil Shock Conversion Pack £22.99
1 x Tamiya 53665 TT01 Spur Upgrade Pack £7.99
1 x C11108 28t Pinion TT01 £6.50
1 x BEA2 TT01 Ballrace Set £14.99

Total value £52.47 if purchased separately.

Order: Carson TT01 Tune Up Pack @ £39.99
A 28t pinion mixed with either a 55 or 58 spur!! DAMN!!! anyone tried this kit out and still have a tt-01 left??lol im guessing u could only use a silver can on this upgrade or it would go up in a ball of flames lmao
anyone bought it and tried it?

the stock gearing is really the smallest you can get unless you modify the drivetrain to use other gears and not tamiya gears. Robinson does but the meshing might not be right. I;ve never tried it so i wouldn't be sure. getting a heatsink will solve some of the heat issue.

People have put mambas in their tt-01s. they hold up pretty well to the power.

Ah, the torque thing makes sense... but my friend and C.A.R tell me to to over gear it some more because it's so powerful that it's topping out too quickly.
I'll lose some speed though.[:@] Ah well, i'll get some more acceleration which will be brutal.
What pinion should i get?

if its topping out to quickly, surely you need more top end speed? which will happen at the expense of acceleration..

true lee if he gets a bigger pinion size it will increase top speed but pull away will suck tho []
and if your having overheating on a standard 19t pinion if will get worst on a bigger size but i say go for a 21-22 tooth and see her fly lol heres a lil gearing table i found for the TT-01 to help peeps out [8D]

...im aimimg for the 22/58 ratio of 6.85 on a 21d motor for top end speed

I had my tt-01 on a 24/58 gearing with a 17x2 motor. it overheated a few times during hot days but the motors like 2 years old and not much life left on the comm after a few lathe rebuilds so thats to be expected.
This setup gave pretty good acceleration and top end. I gave it one last run and the motor died thermalling and melting the brush hood. honorable way to die[sm=tongue_smile.gif]
