Anton, I hope you still see this thread:

I ordered a Skymaster L-39 cockpit from RCI on Sep 16th. I have still not received it. I spoke with Jeff last week and he said it would be on the way, and that Skymaster would email me the shipping information. I have heard nothing. Why is it taking so long to get my cockpit for my L-39? I have waited almost a month and a half now.

Thank you,
Randy
Hi, Randy

Sorry for the reply late, I now back Taiwan for Holiday, but i had called the my staff , they said the already cockpit sent to you a few days ago,

please wait a few days that you will got it soon, sorry again for the delay,

Best Regards

Anton

Great! Thanks, Anton. Jeff said it should be on the way, but since I have not seen an email saying it was shipped, I was getting worried.

Thanks again!

George. ...you always attack people who is having problems with or get defective SM products like you did with Woy here and in countless other threads.
[/quote]

..i say thats cr@p.
It took me some time searching to find this thread because i would like to add a comment here for everybody to read.
I will not go into details so making the long story short.

One guy here in Greece noticed a possible defect part on his skymaster jet that could be a possible failure in the future.
So when George (Greek skymaster Dealer) learned about it he asked skymaster to ship free of charge new parts .
I didn't know anything about it but because i own the same jet ,a few days later
i received an email from George letting me know that i will receive this new parts for my jet also free of charge.

Here is where i like to thank skymaster for good after sale service!

But thats not the point.
I also found out that skymaster ofered only the parts for free (in good will since the existin parts do the job)but not the shipping cost for free.
Maybe skymaster can confirm that? (order #101124-1 )
Because parts are on there way and i haven't pay for shipping and as far as i know the other guy didn't pay either. Who pay then?
Its no a big deal the 80$ or so George waste for shipping here but to me this is a fine example how to run business.
On top of that..this two jets haven't been ordered from George and i would not expect any support from him in the first place.
But for sure he has my money for the next order.

Have a happy new year and wach out this guy for he is a straight shooter

George, I am posting this here (in addition to the SM L-39 build thread) in hopes that Anton will see it.

I ran into a problem: When trying to take the nosewheel halves apart, the hex-head cap screws have been so over-torqued that the hex heads on three of the cap screws stripped on me. I emailed Skymaster about this, but there seems to be a language problem. Here are some replies to my issue:

Hi Randy
We suggest you to remove to rest screws. No matter screws are sripped or are removed, you will finally easily separate two wheel hubs from tires easily even with hands. If you need screws,we will supply.

Hi Randy
You can continue to remove the rest head socket screws. Then aluminum hubs can be disassembled from tires.

Hi Randy
Here is the method:
1)Use hex wrench to disassemble the rest screws wtih caps.
2)When rest screws with caps are removed, you can spearate wheel halves with hands.
Or
If rest screws caps are stripped, you still can separate wheel halves with hands.

Please try.It works. We will finally send you new cap screws.

Best regards

John
Skymaster RC Jet

I cannot seem to convey to them that these three screws are stuck holding the halves together. I certainly understand how to take the rims apart once all the screws are removed. Why the manufacturer so over-torqued these screws in the first place is beyond me. I was hoping to get SM to replace this wheel/tire assembly, because as it stands now, once the nose tire is worn, I won't be able to replace it.

In the meantime, any suggestions on how to get these screws out?

Thanks

Sluggo,

Use a small screw extractor if you can not grab the screw heads with a good pair of needle nose vise grips.

If all else fails, use a reverse drill bit and drill the heads off. If you are lucky, the screws will unscrew during the drilling process. If not, once the heads are removed, use pliers to get the shafts out.

PS. Now you know what "strong more" means...[&:]

LOL!!!

Impossible to get needle-nose on with enough grip. The screws sit in kind of a recessed cutout in the hub. I'll try and find a screw extractor that will fit small screws like these. Man, these screws were gunched on hard!

Hey Randy!
Your frond tyre worn out?..that means the L39 flyies!..where are the photos and the vid [8D]

what you could try in order is
-first get some HYSOL and glue the alen key in the screw and let it dry well overnight so it will close any corner gaps and you try turn it.
-If that wont work you could try use a small dremel disk and cut a slot and try to unscrew them with a flat driver(carefull dont cut the wheel too)
-and last is to drill the screw. Not dril it all the way thru .Just with a 4mm drill the head..when only the heads are gone you can seperate the wheel and then you have a good grip to take the rest out with a plier.

...but Randy before all that ...regarding the alen key, do you use a metric or an inch alen key??

promblem solved
Anton ,maybe Likai could send the new wheel unassemble with this screws loose so customer can put it together!
...so maybe customer replace them if he like with his screws that fit his alen key better..

...for the record i found that my Hobbico alen key 5/64 gives a better fit in this screws..

Thank you very much Anton! I appreciate your help.

George, I was using metric, and when I noticed how tight the screws were installed, I made sure I was using an allen wrench that fit snugly and was not worn. I didn't think of using hysol, but then I would need a few more allen wrenches! I haven't yet tried to drill them out with an extractor or make a slot, as I didn't wnat to risk damaging the wheel.

I cannot thank Anton enough, though, for standing behind his products and sending me a replacement wheel.

The heads are pretty rounded off inside, so I am not optimistic.

The removed bolts look like they may have had some thread locker on them. If this is the case, find a small torx bit that will almost fit the hole, but will have to be driven into the rounded hole. Heat the bolt heads with a soldering iron, and while supporting the backside of the rim , tap the torx bit into the rounded out hole and try to remove the bolt. The torx will act as an extractor and with a combination of heat and a few jolts from driving the torx bit in, you may luck out.

Agree, there is some residue on the screws I was able to remove, so it does look like some thread locker was used. Thanks for the tip.

I installed a scale cockpit in my L-39. This requird a re-work of my initial systems installation to make room for the depth of the cockpit tubs. So as to avoid posting duplicate pics, here is a link to the finished jet:
