Delta/flying wing?
Hi,
Sometime in my near future i hope to build something that has either a delta wing or is a flying wing. I would really like to build either an SR-71, or a B-2 bomber. What are the aerodynamics involved in this. I know the hotspot or kangaroo are kinda like this, but they have vertical stabilizers and the B-2 does not. Would the B-2 have some sort of gyro or wierd aileron movements. I know that the Ailerons on the B-2 are split, but how does this work. The SR-71 looks like a "scale" Hotspot, but is there anything weird going on with that design that could set me back?
Basically i want to know about anything that has to do with delta wing, or flying wing jets.
Thank You
Rusty

RE: Delta/flying wing?
Start with something easy!
This will get you started by learning to work with foam, simple airfoils, delta wingplans and can be built over a weekend:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Gian..._480842/tm.htm
http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/flywing1.htm

http://perso.wanadoo.fr/scherrer/mat...sh/paolie.html
http://www.acesim.com/rc/wallywing.html

These web sites will give you information on design, airfoils, and simple flying wings to play around with.
Chris Golds built and successfully flew an electric powered B2 in England and I believe plans are available but don't know from where. Perhaps "Quiet Flight."

...or a Zagi.
They do fly differently that conventional planes. Raise the nose, and the drag goes up tremendously, slowing the plane down....depending on the weight, this can be an advantage, or a disadvantage. They tend not to glide too well, although find a "sweet spot" and they will surprise you. I had a dead stick on my first flight in an enforcer at 50 feet over the end of the runway. I had it down and stopped in the first 100' or so.....
