Default Last option, need a older xicoy Fadec style Gsu with 8pin Cat 5 connector

Well, I just swapped to a new dx18 gen 2, and was setting my KT170F up in my F15 and my GSU crapped out on me, It's one of the older kind with the 8 pin cat5 connector (ethernet type plug) a lil bigger than a phone type plug, like in these pix. I have tried on the forums with wanted ads and no luck, but not much activity either. Contacted Kingtech, it's no longer available, so my option is to update to new ECU unit. Unless,,,one of you has a GSU you can sell reasonably, needs to be a working one, I got two that don't work,,
If you can help me out, Please let me know,
Thanks
Ronnie

Looks like you may have to go to the source: http://www.xicoy.com/catalog/product...products_id=48

Yes, I know it's discontinued, but won't hurt to ask Gaspar for a quote.

I'd be asking why are you blowing terminals?

Dan

When you say crapped out... what happened?
Did the display just go out?
If so it could be the small ceramic 0.1uF decoupling capacitor on the board suffered an internal short.
I have shown the solder side of the board, the capacitor is on the opposite side, if it is shorted it will get hot.
You can cut it out and run without it.... or get a new one and solder on the back side so you don't have to remove the display.
If that is the problem (i.e. cut it out and see if it works) PM me your address and I can mail you one...

Not blowing terminals,,I had 1 that never worked since I got it, and the other one the display is screwed up, bunch of black squares on the screen, the last time I used it I had to pull the wire tight in the GSU, and squeeze the case real hard,,that was the warning shot I guess,,

SPARHAWK, thanks for the link, I am going to try RCISFUN's Idea and bypass the capacitor and see if the screen will work, if Not I will be emailing Gaspar to see about having them make me a replacement GSU, It will save me a pretty decent chunk of money that way,,

From your description, it looks that the cable is damaged where it enters in the box, just cut it about 1 inch before it enters in the box, Split the internal cables and resolder internally the wires on same place.

I do have new cables if you need one, but none terminal in stock at this moment, will build some in next couple of weeks.

I tried removing the capacitor as listed above, no dice, I then put my meter on the cable itself and ran a Resistance check on I from plug to board, all good, just a bad LCD I guess. I then removed the cable from that unit and soldered it on the old unit that never worked,, It still didn't work. So both my GSUs got chunked. FW190PILOT sent me his JET JOE gsu,, all good, plugged it in, learned my new radio, all working as it should. Thanks for the help fellas, and thanks for the help Gaspar, You were my next option for a new GSU. Mark had what I needed to get the 15 back in the air, Thanks again
