I think the RAM 500 was $2200 but is no longer available anyway although the FTE 500 is the same engine (made from the parts RAM had left when the doors closed) the PST is made to the WREN design as was the RAM. Wren sell the engine in kit form which is about 3/4 hours work and comes with the tools required to assemble, the current engine is more powerfull than the 12lb the RAM500. There is also a Wren supersport due out later this year which is the same size and weight but produces 18lb thrust with terific fuel economy.

hope this answers the your questions

Hi B727200

SimJet sells a "12lb" turbine that puts out 13.5lbs. Please check out www.simjet.com or www.greatnorthernmodels.com.

Sincerely,
Ed

Hi Matt

I don't think so. I just answered his question about "i cant find who sell the new one?" I believe that an answer like that is within the rules.

I just took mine out yesterday. I haven't run this engine for 2 years.Take me 1/2 hrs before I get to run.
This is an old ECU software. I think te new ECU should able to start easy.
Have anybody run with the new ECU? I just wonder how it start with new software.

Hi tam the new ram 500 ECU is better. Because the new ECU try to restart the engine three times before stoping if your first start fail

Buy yourself a Wren from JHH or direct from the UK, you won't regret it!

B727200- The T-500 is available directly from FTE in Florida and is a 12 lb thrust MW-54 size turbine made and serviced in the U.S.A.

The T-500 and Ram 500 and nearly all other 12 lb thrust class turbines are indeed 'Generally' all related i.e. they share a similar internal components design that is based upon the Wren MW-54. Please feel free to email me if you would like further info on the T-500...

Cheers-

HI, the new software is better, but what mades the ram 500 start is experiance, when you understand how it runs you will be able to start it easier. I do not think the B version is for someone just starting into turbines.

Yeap,
B version isn't for newbie.
I took me 1/2 adjustment around to get it run. But not every single start.
That why I want to updated to the new software. I just hate sitting at the field playing around 10-15min just to get it start.
That was a old days.

Im not sure what version the software is on my Sophia ECU (Jetronic) but it started on the first depression of the air trigger, and I have never started a turbine in my life.

Yeah...the last thing we'd want is a forum that was informative, fun and free of flame wars....
