Default KingCat Owners----I've got an idea.....UPDATE!!! PICS ADDED!!

I've got an idea and I want to float a trial balloon to see if there is a market for this....

I've been playing with my buddy's KingCat and I've come up with a smoke tank setup that I believe is ideal. The tank itself holds 32 ounces and nestles snugly between the two kevlar main tanks on the floor of the model perfectly. As I mentioned, the fit is snug but not so tight that you are forcing the tank into position. The length of the smoke tank is almost identical to the two main tanks.

The modifications to the KingCat are very minimal....The bracket/brace that holds the UAT in place and keeps the main tanks from sliding around I have redesigned. The new part is very similar to the original except that the position of the UAT is now 180 degrees from the original. This was necessary due to the fact that the UAT in the original position would interfere with the smoke tank. Positioning the UAT 180 degrees from original is fine as the UAT can be used in almost any position.

The only other mod that would be necessary is that the gyro (if used) would need to be raised by about 3/8" to clear the UAT.

All of the original tanks can still be used in their stock positions, including the small rectangular tank in the middle of the two main tanks that is secured by foam......The only thing is that the small rectangular tank is now positioned on top of the smoke tank.

I'm thinking about marketing this smoke tank setup here in the Marketplace on RCU.[8D] What would be included is the tank, modified bracket/brace and all tank fittings. Fittings would include the clunk, tank internal fuel lines, and the nipples for the suction and vent. The fittings will come from a very well known giant scale accessories producer. (Nice, heavy duty, top quality stuff!!!) The tank is constructed from polyethylene...Similar to a Nalgene tank. What you will need to supply is the smoke system....I recommend Tam's!!!

Well---That's it in a nut shell....What do you guys think???? If you aren't interested in this setup for a smoke system you could always use it to hold more fuel!!! (As if the KingCat doesn't hold enough already....But you know some guys----They are always looking for more ways to cram fuel in a jet!!!)

I can't post pics now but will soon.....Let me know if you are interested by posting here.

THANKS...Kevin

ORIGINAL: Crazy4Flight

But I still can't afford a King Cat.

Neither can I.....I'm glad that my buddy got one!!!

I have an idea....Start out slowly, buying the KingCat piece by piece---Start by buying one of my smoke tanks!!!! OK....Bad idea.

I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them here.

As promised here are the pics of the prototype setup....[8D]

The first pic shows the 32 ounce smoke tank. Although it is somewhat opaque you can easily see the fluid level when installed.

The second photo shows the area between the factory main fuel tanks.

The third photo shows the 32 ounce smoke tank installed between the main tanks.

The first pic in this post shows the factory rectangular auxillary tank in position above the smoke tank.

The second pic shows the stock UAT/main tank bracket on the bottom with the template of the new bracket on top.

The third pic shows how the entire assembly will look when finished----Template was used in this pic instead of the finished bracket which will be made of ply.

The final pics are of the fuel fittings that will come with the tank. These photos of the tanks in my EuroSport. Note the size of the clunk and the diameter of the pick-up opening......LARGE!!!! The last pic shows the bulkhead type fitting for the smoke fluid overflow. You can easily connect a ground run type tank to this fitting to catch the overflow, preventing waste.

Well....Guys, that's it!!! Of course instructions will come with the tank kit. As you can see, this tank could also be used for more fuel. Tell me what you think.....

And one final pic....A shameless plug for my FOD screens. Shown is the screen on my JetCat P-120 installed in my EuroSport.
