Default Need cockpit & Pilot Yellow F18 Twin

Hi All,

Is there anyone who can build a scale cockpit and pilot set up for my almost completed Yellow F18 twin project. I have seen the one from planes plus, but would rather go with one that is more detailed. I am looking for some feed back or recommendations. Thanks

Hey Kevin the most highly detailed cockpit and the most reasonably priced is the Blue Box toys F-15 cockpit wich fits perfectly with slight modifications into the Yellow F-18 twin. Hobbytown and some of the kit manufacturers are selling them for approximately $170.00. As far as detail is concerned it will blow anything else away even the horizon moves when you turn the sticks and the control panel lights up. The pilot fits perfect in the cockpit and of course is highly detailed. So for less than $250.00 you can have a ready to fly pilot and cockpit. I believe the
website is www.blueboxtoys.com I hope this helps.[8D]

tito1,

Call Shaun, I just ordered all of my ordinance through him from Yellow. They have it all in stock and it is made for that plane.

Hi Kevin:
You mean like this one. Blue box is way to big.

Hi Tito1, Kenny is right, just call shaun from Yellow, I also need to get a few more toys for the belly, they look awsome on the ground and better in the air.

Thank you P.Richards, I will look into that set up.

Kenny F. I am not far behind you, did you find any good books on paint schemes. I am at that stage that I need to decide on color.

Thanks

Kevin

Putting an F-15 cockpit in a F/A-18 would just be wrong. Peruse Tom Pierce's (NEO on RCU) Bates SBD Dauntless build site. Study his techniques and then get busy scratch building the most awesome cockpit a 1/7th hornet has ever seen[8D]

The scheme was found on the internet, I never got any good books but that is a good idea. This is what Shaun and I are going with.

Ok, Just looked into Toy Box web site, took some time to find the cockpit set, I then went to distributor list, Hobbies HQ has the F15 cockpit set for $140 and an F18 pilot for $49.95. I wonder if this is the same type of high quality pilot I bought from BVM a while back for the F100 I built, and it was indeed way to big, I had to chop, slice and dice that man apart and do the ol Papua New Guine shrunken body trick.

I am not worried about the pilot, ( I can chop it again) but Dave do you have actual experiance that the F15 cockpit kit is too large?? It sure looks nice.

Are you putting it in a F-15 or a F-18?

Hi Kenny,

Yes indeed it is going into an F18, and Sdcrashmaster has a point, but here is another point, I would like something that has some what scale looks, I do not compete, AGIAN I do not compete, so to have some one who has flown F15's or F18's and knows the dash like the back of there hands say to me mine is incorrect, I sorta can live with that. The other 99.9% of people looking in will just say Wow, looks great.

Building a detailed 1/7 interior cockpit from scratch, well that is a zen all to it's self.

So, does that F15 model kit fit??? anyone know for sure?? or anyone want to build me a cock pit?

Thanks Kevin

Kevin -

I collected a couple hundred F-18 pics when researching the scheme for my own 1/9 scale Skymaster F-18. Most of them are navy and Marine schemes. Squadron Publications has a great "F/A-18 Walkaround" book with lots of detailed drawings and photos.

Email or PM me and let me know what you are looking for, I can send you a few ideas/pics. here's the scheme I am doing...

Daves cockpit pictured above is pretty scale and detailed. It even lights up. I hear it is sold at a fair price too.

considering your fiberglass vertical fin attachments are backwards anyway, having the Eagle cockpit isn't going to matter that much anyway.

looking good bro' there isn't going to be any room on the ramp with the Hornets tip to tip.

awesome!!!

Try some of the Pactra translucent car body paints.. blue, black, yellow, or grey.

Hi Buck,

do you have any photos on belly ordinance and different configurations?? I figure, as I'm flying at the Mesa Jet Ralley, I may want to drop some bombs on all the rest of the F18 linning up for take off. It might be the only way to win peoples chioce, maybe even most scale flight..... LOL

PS it's a hobby, and my name is not Terry Nitch (I wish it was, if your reading this Terry)
