If you mean the engine cover, Im not there yet, but it is kinda flimsy. I will most likely use as is.
Never heard anyone complain about it failing yet.
There's a bunch of guys in this forum that know a lot about this jet, I hope they start posting.

Hey David, what markings are you going to use ?
I found these great Decals made by Ralf (http://www.modell-lackierung.de)
He is also the one making decals for the Eurosports.
Man that 24 hour epoxy takes a long time to cure when you want to get on building [8D]

Havn`t bought them yet.
Ralf has run out of paper, and waitong for new supplies
I think I gave about 65 euros for the eurofighter decals...... should be in the same legue...maybe less

Man yours looks great!
My sport F-16 looks corny compared to yours
Mine will have simple ugly wire struts, without gear doors.
Also the tail section will not be scale on mine.

Hey man, no shame in not having scale gear and doors bro!
To be honest, I do not trust the reliability of the scale retracts, nor do I like the fact that there is no impact dampening of any sort. I have seen the early A models like yours and they are so damn straightforward and so lite!!!
There is one on RCU selling cheap. Im thinking about it.
You could do the canopy mod like mine. It was easy. But then again, more weight!!!
Your's looking good too, those carbon reinforced wings look eadible!!

RE: My pimped Y/A Falcon, almost done.
David,
As you know, I have had a couple of the Yellow F-16's with scale gear, and I have never had a reliability problem with them. I don't like the fact there are no oleos on the mains, but they do take a pretty good beating. The only thing I have had to do with mine is lube the air cyls with some BVM o-ring lube. They cycle smooth as butter.
I have seen one set fail.......pics actually; a guy screen named Afterburner (I think) had a rough go with his gear after a little off road safari. I am unaware if he was able to repair them or not.
Other than that, I think they are good to go. Fly 'em, and don't give them too much thought.
Your Falcon is looking awesome! Can't wait to see it with decals, and detailed.
Think I am going to try your painting technique......after buying this house, not gonna be a lot of $$ around for a little while to pay someone to do it for me.
Off to finish glassing the Phantom!
Cya,
Jeff

Very nice to see a different paint scheme applied to a YA F16! It looks great man!!
Not that the "every so present "US scale schemes don't look great,I just always liked the Israeli paint jobs too and it lends itself very nicely to the F16 obviously.I just love camo paint jobs period in any variant quite honestly.I am painting both of my YA Starfire II's in Vietnam Camo(Ala F4-using the supplied YA F4 decals)
My big Skymaster F5 will be either painted in 3 tone sky blue camo or gloss black(A Russian scheme either way) My Skymaster Gripen is painted in blue camo colors(Actually a scale Rafale scheme I adapted to the Gripen) Something very different on a Gripen-I like different .Again great job on the F16 !!

Hey,
Just curious; is this because of something you saw or an incident you heard of, or are you just looking at a pic and thinkig that? I've seen this plane fly with everything from a DF to a Ram 500 to a P-120, and I am convinced that the gear have all the shock absorbtion they need. At any rate, the scale gear are not made to work with the A model F-16.

Just finished the air plumbing and installing the UP3 valve and the main gear wheels are fouling the Fan. Other than that the operation is uneventful.

RE: My pimped Y/A Falcon, almost done.
I was a little worried about the main gear not having struts when I got my Y/A F-16 too. I have a P-120 in mine and it weighs a little more than most. On the maiden I brought it in fast and it took a very hard lick when it touched down (OK, smacked down). It didn't bounce or crack anything, the plane just took it and kept on rolling. Another thing that not having the struts on the mains helped is ground tracking. I have no gyro on the plane and it didn't rock the slightest on take of or landing. It was rock solid. After the first not so pretty flight, I have completely changed my mind on the mains, I would leave them just as they are.

Falconwings,
I see. You're talking about old-school equipment. The new Falcons have plug-in wings, so that tells me your mysterious ( ) friend has an older Falcon. Trust us, these gear don't need shocks. Between the bad landings I've seen, and the ones I've performed with this kit/gear combo--if the lack of shocks on the mains was in any way bad, we would have seen some evidence of the problem by now.
