If you havn't checked this thread lately, the last 4 of my posts are new.
It's getting down the the end.

Nigil has been waiting a while for a chance at the cockpit so I did a test fit.
The cockpit is part of the hatch and a simple flat floor. Trouble is, it's so large it needs some effort or it looks like a black hole.

Picture 1
Shows Nigil in place temporarily.

Nigil is the head of an old GI Joe I plucked off its body. I made a foam torso and stuck his head on a dowel then glued it to the foam. Very Cannibal like. Island of misfit toys... I snipped his flight suit and covered the foam, then glued the helmet on permanently. Hope his head doesn't get hot spots or itch 'cause it's on for good.

Picture 2
Rear view shows part of the panel. The attitude gyro is not spun up.

Picture 3
Nigil's mount comes together. Too slowly if you ask him.

Mine is just about ready for its maiden flight maybe later this week using a Mk2 JJ1400. Nice to see other balsa bashers BB's still tackling Alan's model, mine was started in October last year and I then got a little diverted onto Hawks and other jets.

With the airframe pretty much complete, it was time to get the engine test stand ready. The objective of the test stand was to set the ECU and failsafe, play with the reciever settings and make sure the fuel system that is going into the airplane operates properly. This meant that I built the stand to mirror the fuselage layout. This included using the UAT tray and fuel systems bulkheads from the actual airplane. If it all checks out ok, then I can simply transfer it back into the aircraft.

Shows the test rig rear view.

Picture 2
Shows the top view. FOD screen is of the WalMart teat strainer type. Tubing added to the edges
and retained with electrical tabe and tie wrap. I'll be watching this closely.

Picture 3
Shows a closeup of the FOD screen. I safety wired the tubing. If I see wear or shifting of the
screen or tubing, I will do something different.

Picture 4
Front view of the test stand. In these photos, my fuel can is still under constuction. My guess is that my next jet project will be faster with all of this other support gear complete.

Shows the Vexa servo tester checking the leads just after assembly. Insures the servos are still connected. The Vexa is one of the best RC tools I have ever bought. Should really pay off setting up control throws, even though it does much more than that.
Hey, I got one of those vexa things in a box of goodies, what can you all do with it? I wasnt sure what it did.

John,
mr matt turned me on to it when I asked about a servo tester.
1. It will drive a servo thru its complete range in 1024 steps.
2. It has a one button servo centering feature.
3. Can show servo amperage draw.
4. Will auto sweep in 16 speeds.
5. Can show the reciever output signal, log gliches for ground runs and range checks, and monitor battery voltage.

With some creativity I am sure it could serve other uses. It is really cool to be able to instal a servo and plug it into the VEXA and center it, then drive it, all with out a radio!!

Here's the web page for downloadable instructions.
