RE: Qatar Jet Day
It flew really well but stalled in on landing (minor damage) - it has flown many times, I think the pilot was experiencing some glitching.

RE: Qatar Jet Day
Correct,
The Sheikh owns quite a few jets and flys them pretty well. I'm not sure of the details on all the planes as, I also flew a slot in the cheapest plane there (Boomerang Intro) and didn't heve time to chat with everybody because a clogged gas filter was giving me starting problems. The runway is 1 mile long and we usually have two or three groups flying down it's length. The government is building us our own facility as this is a full size school training strip that is available to us 2 1/2 days per week.
For a lot of the guys, money is no problem and there are a lot of big aircraft that get flown really hard! Jet flying here is very popular and well supported.

RE: Qatar Jet Day
Hey Rory,
Looks like a big day at the field over there! Did the F-16 fly yet?
Guys, the field there is amazing, and I've gotta agree, they fly the jets hard and fast over there! Pretty cool place to visit and a lot of interest in jets there.
Where's the big lear? I don't see it in the pics?

RE: Qatar Jet Day
Dave,
The big Lear flew but he had either packed up or not arrived when I took the pictures - he transports it on the roof of a small Renault and it takes a bit of time to rig / de-rig (the wing is longer than the car).
I have not seen the F16 fly but we do go to the filed at different times and it did not fly on the day.
Feel free to contact me when you guys come again (I hear rumours) if you want to get out for a beer or something.
