I see no clutch.

Does the starter motor switch to an on board generator once the engine is running ?

Graupner, I think, sold a system for years.
I can't remember the name, but there is an American company that sells an onboard starting system, has done so for decades. It does indeed work, seen it.

mmm no

but i havent flown Petrol engines for years.
so when i went the first time to fly it.
i did the trim up , stick up and down and nothing happend.
tryed again and nada.
then a fellow petrol head mentioned i should "hand rotate that thing on the front".
offcourse i went home and made some mod,s on mine.
no more laughing now..................

it used to be a fema for a zenoah 23
however i reinforced the gears , made a new crankshaft adaptor for the engine.
put in a reduction gear 2,8 to 1 changed the electric motor to a high torque speed 500.
rotates like a charm.
pic shows original
