Just wondering what kind of grease that red stuff is inside the strut. Thanks

i checked the TM cross reference and for full scales (C-130s and F-16s but I'm sure others are the same specifications) the red grease on the landing gear assembly is Mobil 28 (military specifications MIL-G-81322)

Thanks guys. You think for our application, these full scale/mil spec greases are really neccessary. I was looking to use something a little easier to obtain locally like a wheel bearing grease or something.

the mil spec just sets a standard for low lubrication friction, what you're after is a grease that lubes but doesn't cause excessive stiffness to the struts.

you can use any quality grease you choose you just may (or may not) have to replace it more often because it dries out/hardens/melts and runs out/etc.... the lithium (without the molly) grease you can find in most any parts store/wal-mart is acceptable.

Holly Mackeral! You needed to go back 12 days in the past to bring this thread back up to throw that advice in? Use what you got and let sleeping threads sleep.
