Default RAM 1000X ECU Battery, question
I'm told that I can replace this battery with a standard RC electric car battery and resolder the connections. Is this accurate? It looks to be a 6 cell "c" size.

Yep thats right. I used sanyo SCR cells which worked fine.

sean,

confirm that you will have the same available count of cells. If your existing pack has 6 cells, you will want to use 6 cell car pack.

Sean,
Jason hit the nail on the head with the SCR cells. If by chance you can get a 6 cell pack of those they are much better than the standard cells that you can get.
