Default Chalgrove April get together jet fest!

Guys

Another month another chance to use the excellent facilities at Chalgrove (ex USAF and first live ejection site)
When I walked out if the house this morning I was met by this!...but the M & R guys didn't need to ask whether we were going flying, meeting at Booker (ex RAF) for our usual breakfast chat.
The weather cleared as usual and by the time we were set up it was a lovely day.
Test flights for Trevor Skedge's Fouga F-17/Christian Diffusion/MW44 model built for the "doc" by Roger Melville while the Doc finished his new house.
Usual suspects flew all day, plenty of flights on my Spark and Bandit ARF.
Steve Elias also had his brother B-ARF machine out and Stevie Flash, Rob BobCat, Luke Bobcat had a good time. T also had a flight or two with his Fox Hawk/P60

Great day

Paul,

Yes had another flight with the Fox Composites Hawk after you left and used the PG setting of 45 degrees full flap with around 5mm crow on the ailerons. Just adjusting my landing approach to suit this and it does come in better now. Thanks for the tutorial
Here is a video of the Fouga that I test flew same day for those interested, Built superbly by Roger Melville, shot by Dave W and the second take-off and landing was by li'l Stevie Roberts, top pilot.

Trevor,
Nice Hawk. I would like to build one for my Gold 44.
Talking with Dave about one do you know what Paul's weighs?
Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Not certain but think it is around 11lbs. No doubt Paul will come in with an accurate figure. These Hawks really are excellent VFM. Hit by the Dollar at the moment for you guys though.

Trev,

Good to watch the video after all these weeks building and it looks like the tail wheel comes in handy on landing It looks like the flight time was about 4.5 mins, so was the UAT being drained by then?

Is there any elevator up or down trim progammed in with this or is it not necessary?

Roger

It did not get onto the UAT.
Trevor was flying 4 minutes to start (when I video it) After my flight I increase the timer to 6.20 and I think the second tank had a 1/3rd left.
You can cruise at low power for the whole flight and probably do 7 minutes

Total weight is 11 lb 3oz with the UAT full of fuel

It will be a bit above that now with the pilot in.
