Default fiberglass sheets

where is a good place to locate thin fiberglass sheets to cut up in strips to use for gear door backing? I guess I could make my own but it would be easier and probably done better using some pre-fabbed ones.

Thanks,
Andy

I use BVM Poly-ply, and you can buy it in strips.

I backed the doors with thin foam (1/16" to 3/32") then a 3 layers of 3.2ox cloth over the foam. Lighter and stiffer than solid sheet glass that thick. I left about 1/8" around the outside edge that isn't backed upl.

McMaster-Carr carries sheet in thickness from 1/32 to 1/2". I bought some in 12x24 sizes and they were less than $10 I thought

Depends on how stiff you want it. I would say that .020 would work. To start with, you might get the variety pack from BVM. It's expensive for what you get ( in my opinion), but it'll give you some small sheets of various sizes. Then, when you have an idea of what you want, go shop around.
