Default Grumania ME262 103 IN WING

I just thought the single engine was interesting

11. SINGLE ENGINE VERSION ( Me 262 C 1a )in preparation !!! This is a replica of the version that had an extra single rocket engine in the fuselage to increase the climb rate. It will give the modeller the oportunity to get this model in the air by using only one turbine ( 120 N ) !!! The model will be lighter than the twin engine version and the overall cost is much less, to make this dream come true for those who can`t afford a twin engine jet.

* Series 1 kits with limited building manuals at special prices

First kits available now !

Ask for prices and availability

Here are some specs of the model :

Scale : 1/ 4.8

Wingspan : 2610 mm - 103 inches

Length : 2210 mm - 87 inches

weight : 16 - 18 Kilogramms ( formely Kranz version 25 Kg )

The rocket motor did not require an inlet. All it required was an ignition source.

The plane looks really nice but makes no sense as a single engine me-262 since that is NOT scale. Now if they had twin turbines and a mini rocket to assist in takeoff like the Germans tried late in WWII that would be very interesting.

Save your bucks and wait for the a twin to come out. both V.. & I are 262 nuts(well I am for sure) I would wait until a flying model comes out.that way at least some of the engineering & hardware has been completed (Gear /wheels etc)

Rhallgarth I think the intake requirement is for the P120 that would provide power (Check out the web photographs)

Joe I know. That jet holds amazing historic value and as a scale project would be incredible. I prefer the newer jets but I would absolutely consider an ME-262. What I did mean, explained poorly, was needing an inlet for the single turbine would make the ME-262 totally non-scale and that plane deserves to be scale.

I also love BVM. Just got a care package from BVM with tons of building stuff I need for what I am working on. At 7.50 for shipping it is cheaper than driving to the nearest model store and painfully having to find stuff and everything they sell is top-shelf plus the service is great and I AM NOT a shill for BVM just another happy customer. Here`s an onboard video of Franks Me 262 :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb5z6wJ3Dtg

The model is built from the older kit and has a total weight of 25 kilos, powered by two Frank turbines.
Frank won many cups and trophys over the years - the model is definitely a good flyer.

Uncle Joe - since you like the 262 so much (and I can't disagree with that !), are you aware that flights are going to be available in the Me-262 that the Collings Foundation has ?

I got a flyer on it a few months ago, since I've flown in other Collings aircraft and am therefore on their perpetual mailing list - I don't remember if the cost was mentioned, but for a rich dude like you the $ should be no problem anyway ;-)

HELLO FOLKS !

I RECEIVED MY GRUMANIA ME262 IN JANUARY AND STARTED TO BUILD IT;
STILL A LOT OF WORK TO DO BUT A GREAT KIT. THE QUALITY IS TOP CLASS AND IT COMES READY TO PAINT.
RIVETS AND PANEL LINES ARE REALLY VISIBLE AND WELL MADE. THE PLANE HAS A HUGE FUSELAGE IN WHICH MY SIMJET 2300 WILL TAKE PLACE TO ACHIEVE THE C1a VERSION.
FORMERS HAVE TO BE GLUED IN IT BUT THE BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS ARE VERY HELPFUL.
THE WINGS ARE ALSO VERY IMPRESSIVE AND THEY ARE VERY STRONG, MAYBE A BIT HEAVY COMPARED TO THE FUSELAGE.
AND FINALLY THE LANDING GEARS ARE MONSTERS JUST LIKE THE REAL ONE !

NOW MY ME 262 SITS ON ITS LEGS AND LOOKS POWERFUL LIKE A SHARK §

GREAT KIT FROM GRUMANIA , CONGRATULATIONS ILJA !

Maybe the gear is not locked in the end position.I can asure you that the angles are scale, I designed the retracts over scaled down original drawings .

I would say the contrary: the fuselage is a bit light compared to the wings ( although it is suitable for EDF operations ).
To my opinion, the wings are just perfect in strength and weight. I will reinforce the back fuselage with very light carbon roving ( the plane is tail heavy by nature ).

Wow - I just got the latest flyer from the Collings folks, and the Me-262 flights are actually quite a bit cheaper than I expected... $3400 for 45 minutes !

Yeah, I know that's still a wad of cash, but compared to the cost of some other flights, and the fact that this is such a rare bird, it's less than expected, and well within the reach of many RC jet guys !

Lemme see ... tax deductible, and the aircraft will be at Moffet Field right next to my work on the week after my birthday...

Other California stops on the tour (in case anyone is interested) include San Diego, Long Beach, Camarillo, Burbank, Paso Robles, Hollister, Livermore, Stockton, Sacramento, Davis, Concord & Redding. www.cfdn.org for more details.

I have the Me 262 C1 "single" on order. It should arrive later this month. The air for the turbine to breath comes from the inlets of the underwing pylons, and scavenged thru the wing into the fuse. No need for unsightly holes in the fuse. This 1/4 scale will satisfy me untill someone comes out with a 1/3 scale "quality kit" so that I can use my AMT Pegasus in each pylon. Grumania has a downloadable constrution manual on their web-site that answers most of your questions first hand. There is also the flight video on the site. MIBO does the glasswork for the kit, so you know it's top shelf quality.

Hope this answers some of your questions,
Joe Grice

Gents,

Joe Saitta has a newer version. It has a composite center section for extra strength for turbines. Further, It can be ordered semi-arf. Wings and Tail feathers built. There is still lots to do. Oh, I forgot, Joe had Robart make up Retract/Strut/Brake set-ups for the plane. All of this stuff is on my workbench awaiting more time to complete it. I expect to use to Hawk-14 turbines to power the ME-262.

Joe is great guy to deal with. I also have the ME-163B he did.
