Default Take A look

Does anybody have any idea what this might be used for.

I know it is a turbine tail pipe but for what?

Thanks
Joe L.

Thats what I thought but I have seen choppers withthe tailpipe out either side so the thrust doesn't rotate it.

I woulden't think you would want it pointing up into the blades but maybe down toward the ground.

the gas flow (it's a gas producer wheel rather then thrust) from the turbine is what drives the heli mechanics power wheel and they in turn have twin outlets just like the turbo prop versions and they aren't made to blow into a bellmouth pipe setup. the above pipe looks like someone made if for a particular purpose (or just hacked up a damaged pipe playing around) and for that you'd have to ask them.

How big is it? We need a size reference. Some helis' exhausts point up.

One thing is for sure, if it where for a turboshaft engine (like for a heli) I believe it would not have a bellmouth as on those the exhausts are attached directly to the turbine body... Or I could be wrong...

I was hoping that Tam would chime in. It has the same construction has his dual walled pipes. The spacers between the pipes are identical.

Hey Tam, Did you make this and what for?
