RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
Earlier you mentioned you were looking for a good paint job. Here is one I found earlier on the internet, but has since been removed. It's not extremely colorful, but is also the one used for a Revell 1/48th scale model, which means you can get all accurate markings by finding that model. I believe it's available at Hobby Lobby, among other places. URL for picture is: http://a6intruders.shutterfly.com/pictures/9.
Another from VA-35 Black Panthers is at http://www.flickr.com/photos/dprod/4...3237/lightbox/

Looking good Ian, i like how you did the fin/body bland n fairing with this icing stuff. I will look for it here in Toronto if it's available. I wonder if it will adhere to epoxy resin structures of not?

RE: 1/6th A-6 Intruder Scratch Build
No updates lately guys, sorry. Been building planes for Dantley since he lost everything in a fire. I am also expecting my first baby girl in about 4 weeks or so, so I am sure that will slow things as well. As soon as I finish up with Dantley's gear though I will be ramping back up with the Intruder.

Nothing lately Rueben. Family and life had put it on hold but I have recently made a commitment to myself to clean up some space and get back rolling on this. I hope to so soon. I have already started prepping so hopefully some updates in the near future. Thanks for the interest though!

A6e Ever Completed?
Wanted to see if you ever pulled your canopy. I gave my partner in the B-47 crime my 5.5 A6e. We have the
canopy for the kit we drove to Florida to retrieve. However, the original movie fuselage is still absent its canopy
and canopy frame. Did you make your plug inclusive of the base with the clear or lay up the base?
There is a minuscule size difference between 5.5 and 6th scale. I am sure Sam wants a canopy if you have or
name/number of who pulled yours.

Sorry to say Ed I have not. The project has been on hold for sometime (family and career). I still have everything so someday it will get started again and when that happens I will post here again. Thanks for the inquiry though.

I made a follow up call to Matrix Machine relative to the 1/5.5 retracts since we now have the 1/5.5 well
in hand after a trip to pick up one of the fuses with associated parts. Here's the "discouraging message"
he left on my phone.
"Ed,
The gear would have to be special ordered. I would have to re program everything as I no longer have
the machines that the original ones were made on...Looking at $3,950 for each set.
Thank you for calling today,
John Mesolella"
No joy! Well it looks like mounting a straight leg gear strut at an angle is in our future...

Like you, I have yet to find gear for my old DCU 1/5.5 kit. At JOK I heard the same bad news regarding Matrix gear. I then thought maybe Mibo's gear may work but told their A-6 project is far from production and needing $$$k investment. I don't like the look, but Century Jet had a straight leg set for the Jet Mart A-6, part # 40699-2. You would need to check with CJM, but these may no longer be available due to the business being for sale. As an alternative, I've considered a huge set of F-14 mains but haven't found any big enough for the 1/5:5 A-6. I'm still looking for options before I make my own crude gear version.
If you find any gear currently in production that works, please pass on the info.
Thanks...Scott

I have a company with a 1/5.5 scale A-6 done but the gear is holding them up, it may even be 1/4 scale like. The model will be at Jet Power without gear, If I could get some 3D drawings they could do them in house if they had drawings. This is a bucket list jet for me
Ianober dont suppose you would be willing to take pictures and measurements of yours?

Sure, I could pull them down. I think I even have a very basic drawing from Matrix that had some dimensions on it of the main gear. I will try and remember to pull them down after work today and snap some shots. Any measurements in particular you are looking for?

A6 Stencils & Placards
Ian,
I am having a hard time finding the technical order in support of the stencils and placards. I thought it would be no more difficult than
the B-47's. I have every location, color, and dim of every one on the B-47. The USN documentation indexing is completely different
than the USAF.
(Tried to post image but it would not permit for some reason related to 10 posts...I've posted 100's of them over the last 20 years...?)
I ordered and received a 1:32nd stencil and placard decal sheet...over 100 images. Unfortunately most of the stencils are yellow on
a blue mucilage sheet...rendering it unreadable until applied to a model.
Do you know the USN maintenance order number for stencils and placarding?
