Hi Tony, heard you were in hospital, hope everything is good,If possible please look into the stab platform mount and the fuel tank opening for future reference would really make building a little quicker (LOL)

Anton,
Looks great!
Why are you using 195mm for CG? That seems very far fwd? I am at 215mm but have not flown it there yet.
in the manual we suggested the CG 190-200mm , i knew this will make the nose little heavy, but after maiden that you can move the CG back to 200mm or 210mm for fit your fly style,
Thanks Anton. I just was wondering how much faster it may land at 195 cg...

not too faster, if you watch my latest video of maiden for red arrow, i think the speed of landing about the 70-80km around,

Dave,
If you are talking about the half moon shaped pieces, then they need to be layered. The smaller under the larger. When you fit the main cover piece over the center stab section, then the smaller half moon pieces act as the same thickness of the main piece and go up against the edges of the man piece. Then the larger half moon pieces go directly over the smaller pieces but then act as an over lapping guide for the main pieces. Maybe the pics will explain better.
Thanks for the pics. Got mine together and working, thanks again
Dave

Can anyone tell me how their hawk balances on the ground, canopy and pilot/tub off, only with uat and header full?

Mine stays down but is easy to tilt back. I am at about 215 mm cg.

Thanks
Dave

When I have my canopy off and both cockpit tubs out, mine will sit very lite on the nose gear. It will sit on the nose, but if I do a tap under the nose it will drop to the tail. I think I am around 220mm for my CG. I have my UAT and header tank on my CG so fuel in those made no difference when they were empty when I was setting up my CG and it has not change wth fuel in them now.

My brakes are on a up6 and they really lockup easily despite minimal pressure

I don't have much experience with skymaster brakes. What is the simplest way to soften them up. the wheels spin freely without any brake.

Thanks for any help,
Dave

Anton. Nice wing bags. Do you have them available for the large viper as well? If so I would be very interested.

Looks great Don and looking forward to getting mine in the air. Managed to get my 180G fired up on a test bench a few times over the weekend and it runs great and now it just has to wait a couple of weeks for an airframe and also the new wing bags will be included which will be great!

Regards
George

Hi, Has anyone modified the rear cockpit due to the tank interfering , my tank seems to be to far forward and the fuel plug is in the way.

Thanks

Yes

I cut much of mine off to help clear the tank.

I also moved the front fitting to the center of the tank for better fuel pickup - the additional benefit was that it helped to clear the aft cockpit. I also moved the aft cockpit a little forward, overlapping a bif of the fwd tub flange, to make it fit more easily.

I mentioned a bit back that I made a separate cover for the horizontal stab servos so that I can keep the big cover on and just remove the smaller one to inspect the servos etc.

I cut the fairing off the tail cover and then split it down the middle to make it a little wider. Then I reconstructed it and put some ply in three spots for mounting screws. Primed and painted it and then reinstalled.

The white is not a pefect match, I may try to revise this winter, this is as close as it will be for the summer....

That is a nice mod you have done. Sure will make inspecting the tail servos easier.

Thanks Joe.

I actually had to do it...despite using a template for the servos and the predrilled holes in the stab, there will still some interference with the top cover. So, cutting this out and splitting it and making it wider made sense.

Yea, I had to redo my servo mounts because of the cover not fitting.
I now have 50 flights on mine and am enjoying it more with every flight.

Just dropped the clunk in the fuel tank thinking of opening a hole to fish it out and installing another pickup fitting, any ideas would help!!!!!!!!
