Default 1/6 F-16 SM and Air-tech

I like the one sixth scale F-16 kits from both Skymaster and Air-Tech but what are the key differences between the two? E.g scale appearance/ build/construction/gear type etc etc.
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Let me rephrase the question into two parts as no reply to the original question:-

a) Anyone had an air-tech 1/6th F-16 kit and can describe it's standard of scale appearance from the factory/build quality/ease of construction/landing gear etc etc?

b) Anyone had a skymaster 1/6th F-16 kit and can describe it's standard of scale appearance fom the factory/build quality/ease of construction/landing gear etc etc?

I'm considering a purchase hence the question. Thanks.

I know their email address changed a few years back when I contacted them at that time so that could possibly be why.

Anyway I'm still looking for any replies (particularly on the air-tech F-16) as there is very little info around on the web, seems to be more skymasters around for some reason.

I have looked for pilots flying this model, but have not found any. For approx 2900 USD you get the complete fuse/wing set with the elevator mechanism
and the intake duct, presumably in white gel coat. For 300 USD more you get a SM white gelcoat plane, kevlar tanks, air kit incl. cylinders, tailpipe and a
hardware set, as well as a nice, great-flying, tested model. I am just building my second SM F-16 1:6, and it's even better this time around. Throw in 135 USD
more, and they will install the gear and doors perfectly for you, and they give you free wing bags as well.

Mind you, I am not a rep or anything, just one happy customer!

Many thanks Tor thats useful info for me.

If you have any pics of the inner fuselage of your latest SM F-16 I'd be interested to see how the recent ones look.

I'd really like to get some feel of the air-tech too if anyone has one as I just don't see any info around on them other than a few external pics.

I own both .... and a JL too

the airtech F-16 isnt worth the money ......
you have to put 200+ hours in it
no scale retract available !!!
good customer support to the point you have to wire the money, after that ..... good luck !

if you have the choice go far a SM or JL

The motor mounts that come with the plane are probably good enough, but
I chose to make new ones with better plywood and a layer of carbon on top
as well as screwing 90 degree aluminum angles to the formers and the mounts.

Hey Tor:

Do the Skymaster F-16 1/6 has 3 fuel cells? One of them in the top of the inlet duct ?

How does the C.G. behave once this tank is empty?

Why many people do not recomend the third tank in the Skymaster F-16 1/8?

How do you balance your jet? With the third tank and UAT full and LG down?

Hi Guillermo!

Yes, it has 3 fuel cells with a total of more than 6 litres, so if you fly it with a "small" turbine
like the GBooster 160 that I started out with, you will not need more than one side tank and
the main tank. With the P180 or 200 you will definitely need all 3!

All the tanks are just in front of the CG, and it has never been a problem to fly or land with
the tanks near empty.

I measure the CG with all the tanks (except the hopper tank) empty and the gear down. By
the way, I do not use a UAT, just a 200 ml tank with a central pickup and always connect the
tanks in series, from sidetank 1 to sidetank 2 to the main tank feeding the hopper tank.
