Default help going from 3/16" ID to 6mm tubing

Hello everyone,

I am trying to rework a fuel system and need to go from 3/16" ID tygon down to the 6mm urethane tubing.

The 6mm stuff is pretty difficult, almost impossible to get onto the large nipples (made for the 3/16" ID line).

Should I just stretch the 6mm stuff a ton ? Will it rupture, crack and leak?

I tried 6mm - 6mm festo brass tubing connector and these are too loose on the 3/16 ID side.

OF course a piece of brass tube migth work but I would rather find something that has some form of nippple/barb if possible.

Thanks
Dave

Dave,

Try inserting the tips of needle nose pliers into the 6mm tubing and stretch it. You may have to turn the tubing several times so you stretch the tubing evenly. After stretching the tubing, quickly put it onto the nipple before it shrinks to it's original size. It helps to put a little spit onto the nipple to help the tubing slide better. If it shrinks too quickly, continue the process until you get it installed. No need to worry about tearing, cracking, etc. the tubing.

Just chew the end of the 6mm, it softens it enough to slide over the nipple and will make a nice tight seal

You might get a little more elasticity out of the 6mm if you warm it in hot water or with a heat gun.

Thanks guys.

I appreciate your thoughts.

I am not so concerned about getting the tubing over the nipple, but if I will damage the tubing.

The needle nose pliers, warming and a drop of windex does do quite a bit. I was just watchin thi stuff deform a little more that I like.

Dave
